Entry: Astronomy:Equipment Reviews:Binocular Reviews:Burgess Optical 15x70
The Burgess 15X70's I just bought and viewed are outstanding. The optics are excellent, sharpe to about 80% witch for a pair of large binoculars for under 100 dollars is for me outstanding. They are almost light enough, 46oz, to hand hold for a few minutes, but do come with a center tripod socket to make life easier. Mounted on a tripod they need to be seen to be believed. For a person on a budget these large binoculars fit the bill. Burgess opticial sells their 20X80's for under $150.00 and more larger binoculars are coming. I highly recommend these and Burgess Optics to anyone who is just starting out in Astronomy and are holding off on purchasing a telescope. These binoculars don't break the bank and will give you years of super viewing.
Overall Rating: 9 Entry: Astronomy:Equipment Reviews:Eyepiece Reviews:TeleVue Plossl 25mm In compairing the TeleVue 25mm plossl with my Meade SP 26mm it was no compairson. The 25 Televue was sharpe to the edge. It is much smaller and lighter then the Meade witch is nice as a balance with the scope. Now it does cost more new ($92 vs $79) but with the view sharp to the edge its worth the extra money. Once you own this ep you will never part with it. I love the coating (green) thats on all the Televue ep's. In the light pollutition from New York City where I live the coating and the quality of the ep is so important. Excellent optics and very well made eyepiece.
Overall Rating: 10 Entry: Astronomy:Equipment Reviews:Eyepiece Reviews:TeleVue Plossl 20mm
Picked up a used Televue 20mm and compaired it to the Meade SP 20mm I had at the time. The Televue was tack sharpe to the edge of the field of view. Its smaller and lighter so its easier on you and the scope. Cost atad more but what an eyepiece. I use the 20mm every time I use my LX-90 along with my 25mm Televue looking at DSO's and have never been disappointed. This is no Panatopic or Nagler but for the money I rate this eyepiece extremely high.
