Subject: Orion Shorty Plus Barlow By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.81.14) Date: 02/09/2006 11:57:59 am PST I recently purchased the Orion Shorty Plus Barlow. I am still wondering where the filters can be screwed into it. However, the views I had of Saturn were acceptably clear up to 348X, in my 6" reflector. I can see cloud bands on Saturn now. It works equally well in daylight. I haven't had a chance to test it in my 10" reflector yet. The optics seem to, (do) improve the eyepiece used. With a variable moon filter on a 10 mm SWA Speers Waler eyepiece, the eyepiece doesn't fully bottom in the barlow. But, the 2 mm gap seems to cause no problems. With a single piece moon filter on the SW, there will be no fittage problem. Incidentally, I seem to get my best views of saturn with an Orion explorer 7-21 mm zoom. Will I return the Orion S.P barlow? No, because it is compact and basically faultless. Page 1 of 1 |
