I guess this person doesn't understand the monocentric design. If s/he was expecting a larger FOV or longer eye relief, then they shouldn't have considered the mono's.

The critical things to consider are contrast and light throughput, and these TMB's really deliver. If you're wanting to resolve the faintest photon's your scope and sky conditions can allow, drop in a TMB monocentric.

This is just a reply to the reply and vote at the head of this string. I do have qualms with the tendency I've noticed, on these types of sites, to issue blanket appraisals/damnations without regard to the equipment or conditions that other observers are bound to use and encounter.

The points about expectations of eye relief and FOV with the Monocentric design are certainly worth pointing out. However, a look at the August 2004 "Sky & Telescope" review indicates that the other points listed in the first reply are open for debate. There are a long line of caveats listed towards the end. Would I want to use this in a 6" f/10 Newtonian I have access to? Yes. Would these be good about the 8" f/4.9 that I have? That's none too clear to me, especially since I already have Ultimas and TV Plossls in this focal range.
