Storm (a.k.a. Alashi) >This eyepiece is a bargain for a 24mm Nagler type UWA. It works great in all three (120mm f5 , 150mm f8 refractor,XT10) of my scopes. This is the first eyepiece I use when I pull out my XT10 (10in f5 DOB) and it does not have any blackouts (kidney-beaning) like many UWA eyepieces in this FL range. > It works very well in the daylight with my scopes and makes a great low light spotting scope with the Orion 120ST OTA on a Bogen 3040 tripod. > For more reviews see the two at http://www.cloudynights.com/eyepieces/TAL%20uwa.htm and http://www.cloudynights.com/eyepieces/Six%20Low%20Cost%202.html Subject: Re: vote by jao By: jao In Reply to: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.165.117) (Original Message) Date: 10/28/2002 12:46:08 pm PST I purchased it from TALscopes of Canada. Huge FOV and excellent on-axis performance, with a small amount of softness near the edges. With my F/5 telescope I mainly use it for star-hopping and viewing large clusters and nebulae. A tad on the heavy side, but not an issue in my 12" dob with the counterweights on. Great eyepiece!!!!! The coatings are not that great, and the eye relief is extremely tight. Great EP when you put a 2 inch barlow on it, and the field of view is massive!!! I would rate this at about a 6/10 for comfort and a 10/10 for field size. I ended up selling mine and am going to try a 30mm 2" GSO instead. eye relief...............................................................3/10 optics @ f/5...........................................................5/10 used as a finder.....................................................10/10 barlowed...............................................................10/10 coatings................................................................2/10 Page 1 of 1 |
