>This eyepiece is so over rated! I think Uncle Al has a cult like following and people just buy his products and say how wonderful they are. If this eyepiece was made by anyone else people would tell it like it is. This eyepiece is pretty much unusable. The Instajust just doesn't work.

Dude, if you found the TV Radian 3,4, and 5 mm eyepieces to be so unusable as to give THEM a 0, why did you go on to buy the 18mm? Are you a Pentax Evangelist?

Excerpt from the Televue Radian 4mm:

Terrible kidney boaning and blackouts, not worth the money, and I am fan of TV products.

Note the same IP address. Ohwell, it doesn't matter. I just erased them all.

RESPONSE.

Let's keep this professional, ladies and gentlemen. Commentary like the above is unprofitable, and just ruins the ratings for the rest of us.

There are several companies that make high quality eyepieces. Tele Vue Radians are one of those, and they are well liked by many people who are looking for high quality 20mm eye relief eyepieces. These are great eps for many observers. Other people have different preferences.

I would like to request that the person submitting the reviews that have been referred to contact the organizer of this fine forum, and ask to have their "reviews" removed. If this is the only product so affected, then great. However, if there are others, please submit a LIST of the various eyepieces and brands involved. And if (heaven forbid) this type of reporting has influenced other catagories (like telescopes, or accessories, etc) then please have those deleted also. This type of vandalism is like painting graffiti on fences, and has the same effect. It devalues an otherwise excellent "property."

Please lets cut out the nonsense and repair the damage. Thank you.

Done! The products that were affected were:

TeleVue Radian 4mm - 0 rating
Pentax SMC-XL 10.5mm -10 rating
Pentax SMC-XL 28mm -10
Pentax SMC-XL 14mm -10
Pentax SMC-XL 7mm -10
Pentax SMC-XL 5.2mm -10

This is the reason why I originally asked the guy if he was a Pentax evangelist (If you follow the message thread backwards).

I think that having someone's reviews removed be them negative or positive is childish. If this person hates a certain eyepiece, then so be it.
Any real astronomer knows that by looking through an eyepiece himself will be the true way of telling if it is good or not.
