Subject: Nikon 8 x 42 ( High Grade ) By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.33.187) Date: 02/13/2002 11:07:22 am PST This model has been described by several "experts" as possibly THE very best 8x Roof Prism binocular on the market. I have not personally tested two of it's main " rivals" for this coveted title , namely Zeiss Victory 8 x 40 and Swarovski 8.5x 44 but I intend to do so in the near future before I decide on which model to spend such a lot of money ( for me ) I would rate the Nikon High Grade about equal to a wonderful Leica 8 x 42 I had the pleasure of testing a little while back. The Nikon feels slightly more comfortable in my hands for some reason and is also quicker to focus ( not necessarily a good thing for everyone I suppose ) I did however notice more green colour around distant reflective objects at the very edge of the 7 degree field of view than I did through two slightly less expensive Opticron models I was testing them against . In all other aspects these out performed the others and , to be sure , are VERY VERY outstanding binoculars with an almost unbelievably bright and clear image. Very highly recommended ( if you can afford them ) I will give them a 9 out of 10 because of the noticeable green "colour" bands . Page 1 of 1 |
