I got these for Christmas last year (after hearing about them in SAA), and haven't used them as much as I would like. However, I have found them to be wonderful. I was able to make out the rings on Saturn tonight for the first time (never really tried before). Jupiter is a nice disk, with the Galilean nice tight points. Orion Nebula M42 is easily visible. The moon is almost too bright through these, and the the detail is tremendous.

There is a very small amount of color when looking at the moon, but only if you range out of focus, just a little magenta or chartreuse. If you stay in the sweetspot, which isn't hard to do, they images are very crisp.

The included 1/4"-20 adapter twists too much to be of use, but I made my own out of parts available at Lowes for under $5.00. Also, I found them to be a touch too heavy for a normal tripod, so I picked up a heavy duty one.

The only real complaint I have is that the focus is a little loose, but that may be my fault. It spun on me one night when it was about 0 degress F, but the focus never strays once you get it where you want.

They don't show me everything I want to see, but for $90 (sportsmansguide.com) I will always have a use for them. A good tripod to set them on will cost you far more.

Doug

>Complete and utter nonsense and rubbish from reviews that I have read. This bino uses BAK 7 glass which is so inferior for astronomy that even coke bottles would be superior. Someone obviously is trying to hype an inferior product here. Probably the manufacturer of this crap!
>For anyone to claim to be able to see 4 to 6 bands on Jupiter's surface using 15 power and BAK 7 glass, or see Saturn's rings and 2 moons, you must have a field of bovine manure that you shovel daily. Then why pay 700 bucks for a pair of Fujinons, 500 for Adlerblicks, or Orion BAK 4 glass if these 80 buck binos smoke with BAK 7 glass?

My only comment would be this....have you even used these? Your review ( if you want to call it that ) sounds like someone trying to justify having spent a lot more money for perhaps not an appreciable improvement in performance.

They don't make them with BAK7, they use BAK4. I have seen good reviews of this bino at non-commercial sites (cloudy nights) by people who have no vested interest in the product. I believe these are also the same as the Oberwerks 15x70 which Todd Gross gave a good review.

If you are going to post an opinion, it would help if you actually used these binos, which clearly you have not.
