He got the 8x30E, which is not the binocular listed here. This is supposed to be the 8x32 Superior E, which is gonna cost you a lot more money! Moderator - Could you please look into this for us? Mine are not the SE model, and I did not check the specs listed to be sure they corresponded with my model. Subject: Nikon 8x30 E2 By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.116.203) Date: 08/23/2004 07:13:05 pm PST I purchased a pair of these 6 months ago from a national mail order co. Price $278.00. These are an absolutely superb birding binocular. Very bright. Very wide field of view. Virtually no chromatic aberation but some barely noticable edge falloff in brightness. No discernible false color. Good close focus of about 7 feet. Readily visible pincushion distortion on both axis's, which is not significant for birding applications. Major complaint is the loosening of the leather covering. It appears to have been cut too large for the area covered, resulting in bubbling and loosening. I liked them so much I didn't return them. They can probably be fixed with an exacto knife and new gluing. I compared them against Leica 7x42 trinovids, Swift Audubon 8.5x42 and Eagle Platinum 6x32's all of which I own.
