Order some through Heartland Americana at a cost of $80.48 shipping included. I arrived within 7 days.
The right front lens has 8-10 fine swirling scratches and the binocular it has double vision. There is nothing in the instructions that explains how to adjust the alignment except the usual interpupillary distance adjustment and diopter setting.

Now it will cost about $10+ to ship back far a replacement-- there goes the savings and it can get worse if the other pair is as bad-

I will post again on the replacement set.

Overall appearance is good
Clarity each side individual side is good
Quality control before shipping is poor

I got a pair and they also showed double vision (but no scratches). I found a site on the internet that showed how to make the adjustemnt to correct the double vision. It was easy to fix (a small screw under one of the rubber flaps). It now works great!

I finally tried them out on the moon. They are sharp in the central region, and they don't significantly distort the moon's shape as it is moved toward the edge of the field (though it gets a little blurry).

However, the amount of glare/scattered light/flaring going on is immense. Even with the moon outside the field of view, the background goes much brighter. By the time the moon is in the field of view, it is white on grey instead of white on black. I don't know if this is due to poor baffling or poor coatings, but it is pronounced.

Still, this should not deter someone from getting one of these for $70 for general deep sky work.

Hello, I was reading your post from a while ago about the Barska binoculars you purchased from Heartland. I too purchased Barska binoculars from there and have the same double vision problem you had. You mentioned that you went to a web site that told you how to fix that problem and I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know what the websites address is or just post its link. My email address is rrpearsall@yahoo.com. Thanks

>I got mine at a Dunham's Sports in-store special for $80. Looking through them in the store, I was immediately impressed by the long eye relief and the bright sharp optics.
>These claim to have BK-4 prisms. Initial viewing outdoors confirms good edge sharpness and contrast. Internal relections are minimal and they are light and comfortable to hand hold. I haven't had a chance to do any astronomical viewing yet. Definitely a good value.
