I picked up a pair of these last summer. I was worried about the quality for astronomy, because this is one of the lower-priced Nikons. My worries were unjustified when I tried them out on a clear moonless night northwest of Flagstaff. The stars were pin-point and colorful. The Andromeda Galaxy was a real treat, and a recent view of M42 revealed the most extension of nebulosity that I have ever seen! In fact, at first, I thought the eyepieces had fogged up !! You get a nice picture-window 65 degree apparent field (6.5 true field). The image shows field curvature as you pan around in daylight, and it is not sharp to the edge, but the area of sharpness is adequate in the center and you have to specifically look for any distortions. While only the outside glass of the objectives and eyepieces are multicoated, with all others being coated, you only notice ghost images when viewing the moon. These disappear on direct vision. Eyerelief is probably too short for glasses. This is a very reasonably priced binocular which can be purchased for under $100 if you are a shrewd shopper.

I've had these binoculars for several years but have only used them 3 or 4 times. Bought them back when I was a budding amateur astronomer but have since moved on to less expensive hobbies (like reading!).

I've decided to sell these binoculars because I know I'll probably never use them again. Selling price is $75 plus shipping.

Please contact me at sumari_song@yahoo.com if you are interested. (No spam, please!)
