Subject: skywatcher 10 inch dob By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.115.3) Date: 06/04/2003 01:04:11 pm PST This is my first scope. Yes it is a very good bargain for the money, but to be honest, it is somewhat of a cheap scope. The views are good and if you are on a budget, there I can highly recommend this scope. The azimuth movements are much to stiff so I have done work on the mount to improve its movements. Also the focuser is a cheap piece of junk, the inner tube has a lot of play in it and will wiggle. I have replaced this with a better focuser, which looks exactly the same, but is quality. My seconday mirror also has a chip on the backside, which I saw someone posted on the 8 inch skywatcher dob board. Beyond these issues, this a very good beginner scope. I must say for the cost, i dont see how you can get a better deal. Ive seen better views through this, then the more expensive scopes of the same size! If your looking for a more serious instrument for star gazing, this is the one! Page 1 of 1 |
