Can someone please post some feedback on this scope. I have looked at everything the last few months from the Intes scopes to Orion XT's to you name it. Of course I want a larger aperture, something with an equatorial mount might allow for some rudimentary ccd work, and I don't need goto, but for just under $900.00 for a 10" schmidt-newtonian with all those features?? I'm definitely intrigued!

I am VERY interested in buying this scope BUT i need some feedback on it. It LOOKs very nice. And if thier claim to be ccd ready is true, than it would be one of the most inexpensive ways to get into ccd imaging. (minus to ccd of course). I hope that it does what it claims, because if it does it will definately be my next scope. CvChad23@aol.com

Well I ordered the scope. It is not due out until November according to a Meade rep. that I talk to. From some of the storeslike The Telescope Store and the Lumicon store it won't be ready to ship until the first month or two of next year. Wish me luck.

I orderd mine in September, But i have been told that it could be untill after the first of the year 2002. With an F/4 it should handle ccd imageing with no problem. Does anyone know how to contact Mead to really find out when they will really be avaleable?

It looks like none of these scopes will start shipping until spring 2002. From my experience with similar mounts, I don't think the mount will be inadequate, but more likely the tripod. Transfer the scope to a solid tripod and you should be fine. Can't wait to hear some reviews. I definitely am interested in this scope. I just wish Meade would stop baiting us and just deliver a product on time without all the build-up. I don't have any intention of ordering sight unseen.

I agree with the comment above. The tripods meade send out are just rediculous. I have a lxd-500 refractor and they send me one of the worst tripods i have seen, so plan on investing in a new tripod.

I also have ordered this scope. I talked to a rep at Meade and was told that they would be shipping the first half of December.Of course I did not ask if it was 2001 or 2002;-)
