Even Sky and Telescope reviews stated that the 10" was undermounted. Your problem is that you tried to drag your 10" SN from setup to setup like a smaller scope. That's why things kept breaking and it seemed to be undermounted. I set mine up on a permanent mount in a light-weight backyard flip-top shed I designed with concrete floor and using the supplied tripod. No problems, and many joys. So if you purchase this scope, plan to give it a permanent location. To all you whingers out there, these are inexpensive problems to fix and once fixed the scope is excellent.
