Not a bad scope for the money. Short-tube is easily handled by the EQ1 mount and the eyepiece position is about as good as it gets. Very comfortable to use. The barlowed focuser allows for a smaller secondary mirror which helps increase contrasts. A very nice upgrade though, would be Hands On Optics 108mm 432mm Focal Length pyrex parabolic enhanced primary mirror from Hands On Optics for $59. Sold the spherical mirror for $25. After flocking the tube and doing the mirror swap this scope has some really good nights on the planets. Sharpness can be surprising for such a fast primary...far superior than the spherical F8 telescopes I've looked thru.

Larry,
I am interested in upgrading the optics. Could you
please provide additional details about the primary
mirror you used? Did you need to match it with a
a new secondary as well? Do you think it would
be worth getting rid of the built in 2x barlow focuser
and go with a standard focuser with a good 3x
barlow?
