Subject: megrez 102 By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.96.5) Date: 07/08/2002 03:42:25 pm PST Had some teething problems.I disassembled the objective and found improper mounting in the lens cell. After I reassembled it the images were super.Almost no color at all on anything. You need to use ultima eyepices or naglers or orthoscopics as the scope hates plossls. It's a jewel. Dave S. Subject: Megrez 102 By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.216.230) Date: 03/23/2004 07:00:31 pm PST I am about to acquire a Megrez 102 and I am having a hard time finding out any detailed data on optical performance. Is this a sharp scope with a little color or is it a piece of optical junk? There is tons of data on the Megrez 80 but precious little on the 102. I read that it was discontinued and will be reissued soon with a new objective. How about some advice from someone who has one....Dave Subject: Re: Megrez 102 By: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.19.124) In Reply to: Anonymous (xxx.xxx.216.230) (Original Message) Date: 03/30/2004 12:41:45 am PST >I am about to acquire a Megrez 102 and I am having a hard time finding out any detailed data on optical performance. Nice contrast, a little purple on the edge of Luna and Jupiter. Not great for astrophotography as it has some spherical abberation, but for observing, it is hard to beat for the price.
