Hi:

1. Both the NS5 and NS8 cost more than 700 dollars.
2. The scope comes with a tripod.
3. Have you actually seen, much less used a NS8?

I think nexstar has the worst sofware ever...

1 - no internet update
2 - no object identify
3 - no memory for settings (every time i have to insert data)
4 - no park scope

It has been a big delusion.....(not for optics)

Bye

AS am matter of fact I own one with the aluminum tripod. I would much rather have the heavy duty tripod. The optics are excellent, and if you install home-made index pointers on the fork, and mounting rail, most of the goto glitches disappear. The only other thing I personally would recommend is to replace that red-dot pointer with an 8, or 9X50 spotter. This way, you aren't limited to goto astronomy, but can use it like a traditional scope. You can use the RA/Dec entry from the alt-az mode also. For the price, with a few mods, or of you've got the bucks, Dr. Clay's supercharging, this is a great visual scope. Peter A. Canfield
