You must be using the ultimate Televue scopes or something or you don't like Celestron due to a previous episode or something.

I have owned a C150HD -- this is the Newtonian, not the refractor -- since 2001. I have noticed a lack of greatness at mags. higher than 200-225 (except for the Moon), but I I haven't noticed any CA. I have had your experiences with the C150HD but largely when I had not allowed it to cool down sufficiently. I am not trying to call your experience into question, but could this be the case? If not, perhaps there is simply a difference in the optical quality from your scope to mine, since I have not experienced the optical quality "downgrade" to the level you have.

I agree with the first reply. I agree, the C150HD (hybrid Newtonian, not refractor) is at least good, if not very good. If you are used to using high end scopes, your idea of quality will be scewed. Perhaps, you got one that is subpar compared to the rest of this line. Celestron has one thing going for it. They can mount scopes well. This one came with a CG4 (their EQ3) as apposed to everyone elses undermounted EQ2 mounts.
