I have just ordered a celestron 6" refractor about two days ago. I am supposed to pick it up in a week or so. Just about everything I have read has said good things about this scope. I sure hope I like it. I have a owned an 8" sct for the last year or so and was generally pleased with it. Can't wait to try large refractor. If anyone has any advice on this scope, please e-mail me at gmyrick@apex.net Thanks Greg

I ordered one a week ago and am excited for it's arrival. I wanted to pick up about 3 other eyepieces for this scope. If you have had a good experience with any specific eyepieces could you e-mail me at mcath2000@aol.com. I know some eyepieces find a "sweetspot" with certain scopes and wanted to some help in finding them faster. Thanks for any help you could offer.

I've had the 150 for a few months and have mixed feelings about it. The optics are very good but quite a number of other improvements are called for. I will replace the tripod with a pier and hope I can retain the factory mount. A pier will steady it and it will surely look good. In an effort to balance the front heavy tube, I'll take the advice mentioned and try a waste metal zinc weight on the rear of the bracket rail. Either that or the $50 tube balancer offered by AstroSky. I've read much of the comments on further viewing improvements, but with all that's been said I am not quite sure about what my very next step should be. Should I first go to a 2" diagonal and eyepieces? Someone mentioned that the secret was in the diagonal and to replace the prism with a "Brandon Quartz, 99% coating, 1/20 wave PTV." Sounds good. Where might I purchase that? Also suggested was the "Chromacor" to improve color performance. Anyone else familiar with the Chromacor? What exactly is it? The scope star tests okay but I do get some annoying chromatic aberration. Whatever you guys can tell regarding my next step would be most welcome, either on these pages or preferably directly to me at krellboost@aol.com. Thanks.

Steve

I have an offer that will enable me to pick up a CR 150 for $500.00. My question is, would it be possible to mount this scope on a high quality camera tripod that I've been using for my Fuji binoculars. Obviously I've never owned a scope before. This will be my first and I appreciate anyone that can advise me on this. The tripod is quite heavy and extends to about 70 inches. I just am not sure if the mount that comes with the scope would adapt to the tripod. Either way, I'm going to make the purchase due to the outstanding reviews above. I'm going to put this OTA on a pier if I can't use what I already own....Please help.

IRT to your comments. The tripod you have now will not handle this scope. The mounting is wrong. Email me at rhmcus@yahoo.com. Or check out www.egroups.com and join the chinese refractor groups and post there. The memebers should guide you down the right path Rich

APM-US.com has a site that gives set-up and collimation info for the CR150HD type scope. This is also the company that produces the "Chromacor"tm
