Gary is great to work with, a real pro. I give them a 10 out of 10 and I would deal with anytime. There Ebay deadlings and auctions are great, lowest prices, best service and quick communications. Keep it up guys!

You could have talked with one of a few people that answer the phone at our store. I do not remember such a conversation. I would like to address a reply directly to you but you have hidden your identity. Considering you state you are violent and would commit a crime if you met me, I think your comment stands on its own. Good luck

>I called for some info on a scope and the guy treated me like I beat up his mother. If we were face to face and he spoke to me like that I probably would have been arrested after I got done with him.

Subject: Hands On - Service
By: electric
Date: 03/21/2002 09:24:45 am PST
I am the person who posted the first set of information on the Astele LOMO 133.5 I bought from Hands On. My e-mail is electricgolf@abac.com. Like I said before, I asked him questions via e-mail on Friday, he sent me two replies on Saturday, he talked to me for an hour on his toll-free number Monday, I bought the scope on Monday, they shipped it Tuesday, and I received it Thursday. Doesn't get any better than that! Scope arrived in what looks like perfect condition with the original box/packaging, packed neatly inside a larger box that was well padded and protected. The accessories were packed in box #2, the CG-5 eq mount in box #3, and the wooden tripod legs in box #4. Wow - 4 boxes and UPS
2 day shipping all for $25 shipping. Wow. The optics look perfect (it was too cold to go out for long but there were no obvious defects in optics, mechanicals, or optical surfaces). It focused precisely on tiny buds of trees about 500 yards away. I could see insects crawling (albeit very cold ones). The wooden legs were a great recommendation - those and the CG-5 are a great combo for this little scope. So far, this has been a great transaction. As soon as the weather warms up and is clear we will take the scope out and see how it performs on the sky - that will be my third and final review of Hands On. After all, they highly recommended the scope so if it performs well they get the credit, and if it sucks, well................

I have again bought another scope from Gary and his wife at hands on optics and again the sale and service is the best around. If you have a problem they take care of it right away. Good inventory and good information makes this the place to buy your scope, not thur a mail order store. Service after the sale is allways a big thing with me and keep dealing here!!!!!

>Crooked as hell. Shop elsewhere! Don't believe these glowing reviews, as Gary has posted many of them himself.

Just out of curiousity... I'm wondering why Hands on Optics has more weighted votes than any other vendor listed at excelsis.com. What's going on here, a voting war?
Or is it just coincidence?
Not implying that any of these votes are illegitimate of course. Just find it sort of odd...

Bought a 2" 31mm Proxima from gary this week and used it in my LX90 F-10 last nite and what a view! A outstanding eyepeice for the money, much less that the high priced ones out there and has a great view. Super for the money!

Perhaps if you posted your comments with your name they would carry weight as well. Ranting in the shadows is seldom heard......

You can always view the name of the person by looking at the profile. If you want I can put a vote in here, but I've only had sparse dealings with Gary Hand...
I noticed that you didn't post your name as well... what was the point if you don't even follow your own comments?

I believe the point he is trying to make is not that you are hiding, but that the people making the negative votes ARE.
Anonymous votes always start out at the lowest "unreliable" weighting. If other registered users find a vote useful, it is possible for them to increase an anonymous vote's weight. Non-anonymous votes made by registered users start at a "trustworthy" weighting.

Subject: A great place to buy!

HandsOnOptics is a great way to get the best astronomy stuff at the best prices. I'd also encourage anyone on the East Coast to actually go by the store in MD and check things out there. Gary Hand really knows his business, and he can help out with just about anything anyone would want. He stays on top of things, and works hard to get his customers the best prices from the manufacturers.
