Hmmm.....better than a Nagler? All of these "anonymous reviews" sound a bit like advertisements.

These EP's are definitely not as good as naglers. They show lots of field curvature, have poor contrast, and exhibit lots of ghosting.

Anyone who has ever used a nagler can clearly see the difference. I have yet to see a Siebert eyepiece of comparable quality.

>21 mm at 80 degrees!! wow !! great eyepiece!! as good as a nagler!! no it is better opticly. ive owned 7mm, 9mm, & 22mm naglers & am very impressed with this eyepice!! ill never spend $ 180.00 to $ 460.00 for a uwa again! why would you when you can buy one of these at 1/6 to 1/8 the cost for the same performance. very light & rugidly built. superior optics. will never ever go back to anything else but siebert optics. vpdwl@aol.com

I own a pair of Nagler 22s (for 2" binos) and a pair of Nagler 9s for my 1.25" binos, and the only EPs I own that I would compare to the Naglers are my Sieberts. If the Naglers are a 10, and they are, then the Sieberts are a 9. To get a 10, it's worth the money (if you have it, as any gearhead will testify), but there are some objects that they're less than optimum to be used on, so the Sieberts step up nicely. In fact, I use the Sieberts more in the 1.25" binos by far than any EP pairs in my fairly considerable collection.

Lots of field curvature? No, barely detectable (not at all with the reducer/corrector) at least with the 24s (1.25") and 34s (2") that I own. Ghosting? Yes, on very bright objects and easily handled with a cheap Skylight Filter (Celestron's antiglare LPR), but as I said in a previous post, last night I had no ghosting at all with my Siebert 24s in the 1.25" binos on anything, including Saturn, Sirius, Rigel, Jupiter, Aldabaran, The Hyades, and that was without the Skylight, and I don't know where the slight ghosting I usually experience went (I'm a little puzzled about that), but there was none and that's fine with me.

The 2" 34s, especially in my 2" binos, rival any EP I've ever looked through on any scope and on any object except for Panoptics (directly comparable) and Naglers (simply the best). At the risk of sounding like I'm one of the "hypists" (which I'm not), I'm actually fairly blown away by the 34s (maybe I got a freak set?); they're just a very good EP.

Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, the Sieberts are very hard to beat; you could go through a lot of EPs trying to find better, but if you have the money to blow, get a friggin' Nagler - they are that good. For me, if it were between a Panoptic and a Siebert, and I were on a budget, I'd take the Siebert and then find a higher-paying career so that I wouldn't have to spend time reading best-buy reviews.
