I felt the need to create this site for the Pocono West store after reading the reviews of Pocono Mtn. I have dealt with them at least 10-12 times and every time has been perfect. They have a great selection, good stock, and hands down the lowest prices. I'm one of those people that call everyone in the book in order to save a few bucks. I don't bother with that any more, I just pick up the phone and call Pocono West. I'm currently waiting on the delivery of a Losmandy G-11 w/Gemini. The weekend (that's right weekend) I placed the order, Glenn must have corresponded with me 4 or 5 times. He wanted to make certain the order was just right. I have spoke with a few people at the store and each has been courteous and helpful.
No business can be ran without a glitch here or there. I too am in a customer oriented business. THE job is to please the customer. That doesn't erase the fact that some customers are harder to please than others. Also being an amateur astronomer, I've learned that some of us let our feet get off the ground while our eye is in the scope.
Pocono West has delivered quality products with professional service for me every single time.

Quality, professional service. Best price on G-11. Only complaint is that they quoted approx. 8 week delivery knowing the average is more like 12-14.

I live in Las Vegas so I get to use Pocono West on a non mail order basis. However, that means I also know a lot of other folks who use them. They are really an outstanding shop. I've had only one piece of gear purchased from them that had a problem, an eyepiece, and they swapped it for a new one on the spot, no hesitation whatsoever. I recently purchased a new LX90 scope and in my first night of operating it I was being a dunderhead. In other words, I wasn't operating it correctly and thought the scope was bad. While distressing, I can tell you that I was comforted that they would have swapped out that scope the same way they swapped out my bad eyepiece if it had been bad. (Unfortunately, they stock no replacement for my occasional sheer idiocy)

I trust them as a vendor, and I trust their advice. They will even occasionally tell me that THEY DON'T KNOW SOMETHING, which can sometimes be the BEST answer. I'd rather deal with someone who knows what they know, and admits not knowing something, than deal with a numbnuts knowitall who leads me astry.

Quality service is all I've ever gotten from Pocono.

My first choice for new retail merchandise. One of the only vendors who has ever talked me *out* of a product --without an alternative piece of merchandise to suggest-- when they thought it wouldn't do what I wanted from it.
Their prices are very good, and they MEAN IT about their money back guarantee. I've used it three times without encountering a single problem. Truly a first class operation!

Glenn Jacobs is simply the best! I've been mail-ordering goods from Pocono West to my home in Japan for the last 2 years, and have been more than impressed with Glenn's congenial style and helpfulness.(plus prompt service) Highly recommended!

Very helpful and candid on phone. Product was out-of-stock, yet arrived as promised. Decided not to rate this time as they ship via UPS which would give them a -3 to start off with before figuring in service. Did not feel it fair for them to get a 7 when they were nice and helpful. And yes, UPS did destroy the packaging but with very slight damage, cosmetic, to the product. Not worth sending back.

I've purchased a lot of equipment from them in the past year. Glenn Jacobs is great. Excellent service, and they stand behind their products. I recently returned an eyepiece that produced too much pincushion in my Newtonian. They fully credited my credit card, no questions asked. Great store. Great employees.

I have ordered many items from Pocono-West in the past year, including my CR150. Each order has been filled on time and delivered in perfect conditions. I deal with Todd and he has been excellent at getting back to me with answers to questions and areas concerning my orders etc. This operation is definitely customer service oriented. They stand behind what they sell, and they have been very fair in their pricing to me. I live in No. California and the closest telescope dealer to me is a hardware store about 35 miles away. They don't know the meaning of customer service nor do their sales people know anythng about telescopes or accessories etc. I went there once, never again. Pocono is a fine dealer who takes good care of their customers. Highly recommended!

All dealings with this company have been excelent with the exception of one time. Once they sent me an out of date copy of Maxum DL/CCD (old version) this was straightened out and all dealings since have been very good. Delivery is fast and the prices were the same or better as any of the competition's.

Have brought items from them now close to a dozen times from them and Im in Australia, havn't had a hassle yet and always deliveried on time. They where once out of stock on one item I ordered, they emailed me within 24 hrs to let me know they where out of stock and it would take 4 weeks before they could get the item to me if I still wished to go ahead with the order, which I did and the item arrivied three weeks later.

I have made many successful purchases from Pocono West. I have always found their salespeople to be very knowledgeable and friendly on the phone. I have never had to return any merchandise, but I am fairly confident that that would be handled as smoothly as the sales transactions are.

I dealt directly with Glenn Jacobs in the purchase of a 10" f/10 LX200. He bent over backwards to satisfy my requirements, which included a trade-in of another Meade scope I'd bought from PocWest prior to the 10". Excellent people. Rate them a "10".

I have ordered eyepieces etc. in the past from Pocono West with satisfactory results, but I have just had a bad experience and feel I should tell others. I ordered a Meade LX-90 on the Pocono West web site on the 24th of June, 2001. Their web page says " in stock now, available for immediate shipment" On the 26th of June I got an email from Glenn saying there would be a three week or so delay in shipment, would this be ok? I responded that I would be willing to wait for three weeks. (I know that Meade is having shipment problems due to their $600 free eyepiece special on the LX-200.) After four weeks, I sent Glenn an email and requested info on when the telescope would be shipped, to which he never responded. After five weeks, I called their order desk and asked about the status of my order, and was told they could not tell me when it would be shipped. I asked if they had contacted Meade to determine when they would be receiving more LX-90s and was told "You can't believe a word Meade says." During the sixth week I sent Glenn another email and pointed out that I felt that a customer spending over $2000 with a company had a right to be kept informed of their order status. He responded that Pocono West is in some dispute with Meade and that he could not say when they would be getting more LX-90s and suggested I try elsewhere. I called Anacortes Telescope and Wild Bird today and talked to a very plesant young woman who said they have had LX-90s in stock for the entire six weeks that I've been waiting. I ordered one today and they are shipping today. Pocono West was not upfront about their dispute with Meade and cost me a six week delay. I for one will never do business with them again. These guys are great!! I am very pleased with their mail order service as well as actually being able to walk in and talk to them face to face on a recent visit to Las Vegas. That was one trip where I still left my money in Las Vegas, but it was at an Astronomy store instead of inside of the casinos...(Actually the Casinos paid for my Astronomy purchase that trip!!!...hope this is a trend)
