Service is okay. In my experience, their strong point is price. I have saved an average of $30 per eyepiece purchased from them. They ship reasonably quickly.

The service here is certainly better than Focus, but as good as companies like Eagle Optics or Orion. The salesman was curt, but not rude. I purchased a laminated sky atlas 2000 and Texereu's telescope making text both of which I was having a hard time finding elsewhere. The items shipped promptly. Shipping and handling costs were excessive though.

Prices and fast shipping are their major strong points (cheapest prices I
find for new eyepeices that I could find, even though I didn't look
extensively). Be sure you know what to expect when talking with them.
They are 'typical' New-Yorkers and give no-nonsense service.

They didn't have the binocular I wanted in stock. When I asked questions
on differences in quality of binoculars they had in stock,they didn't answer my questions. At least, they didn't try to bullshit me.

When I knew what I wanted and ordered it (it was a tripod), it was delivered quickly.

I ordered JMI focuser and TELRAD by e-mail and payment done by credit card. One month after payment, nothing come. So I tried to contact with them by e-mail. No reply after one week. Send second e-mail. They wrote to me they have no stock. Delivery date unknown. Wait two week. Send third e-mail. No reply after one week. Send forth and fifth e-mail, no reply. Two months after money drawn from my credit card, I send e-mail that they should tell me the delivery date. No reply, but after 2 months and a week, I finally got them. The worst service I have ever received.

I have ordered multiple photographic and astronomy items from Adorama over the years without major problems. Their prices on most items can't be beat. They do have trouble with adequate stocking of items. They usually take 2 to 3 months to get backordered items. However, they charge your credit card in the mean time which doesn't seem right, but it is standard NYC practice. Thus, if it isn't in stock, skip Adorama. Adorama has always answered all my emails and toll free calls promptly. The service is curt, but not surly like Focus. Shipping is almost always $8 to $12 regardless of the size of the purchase. Thus, order multiple items at once. They win out over Orion on multiple item purchases in this area. Overall, the best NYC store to order from. B&H is better for photography, but they don't carry astronomical equipment.

I wrote them a polite e-mail, asking if they have the Celestron G-5 in stock, what it costs and if it could go as carry-on luggage when flying. No reply. Thus, no sale.

Placed three orders with them and picked a fourth item up in person. The first order was shipped promptly. The second order took aboout 10 days to appear, with no explanation as to why, and I made the assumption that one of the items requested was back-ordered, so I made no complaint. The third order didn't show up in two weeks, so I called them and asked why the delay. Well we were holding the order. What were you waiting for, Christmas? Send the order! Arrived the next day....Go figure. Their prices on accessories (eyepieces, etc) are the best I have seen.

Ordered some Pro-Optic eyepieces by phone. Most focal lengths in stock, arrived a few days later. Out of stock focal lengths arrived in about 10 days. No problems.

I e-mailed Adorama 2 weeks ago to find out what the S&H would be for a JMI DX1 focuser to my home. I am still waiting for their response, enough said. Henceforth I ordered one from Bill Vorce at the telescope Warehouse and had the product in my hand in less then 7 days. Now That's service. Bob Midiri

I just recieved a C-8 DLX, and some accesories from Adorama. I did all my shopping online and ordered by phone. THE BEST PRICES and reasonable shipping. Advice: MAke sure you know exactly what you want inside and out, have a price that you are willing to pay in mind, and ask if they can beat it. I got them to lower their total price with shipping by just asking if they could give me a better deal than was listed on their own website, which was the lowest to begin with! My only problem is that they have very limited customer support hours and short period/strict exchange policy. But, when I did get through on the phone they took care of me promptly. I will definitely order from them again.

I have ordered numerous items from Adorama during the last 15 years. I have found their prices to be excellent, and service good. They can be a bit abrupt on the phone, but they also have an optics expert onsite, who you can consult with if you need to. The sales people can be a bit abrupt at times.
The last item I purchased from them in a pair of 11 x 70 binoculars that I purchased last year. The price/quality ratio is unbeatable (it's sold under their name), and delivery was very fast.

I wasn't looking for information other than availability and price on two items. After getting swithched to two different people my order was placed and sent on its way. Their price was the best, and the packaging was very good. Order was received as promised. I was impressed and will order from them again. The rude person at Astronomics even told me to "you should order from them" when I asked them to compete with the price on an eyepiece. This was after spending a couple of thousand dollars at Astronomics in the last year.

Price on new eyepiece was the best I could find. I ordered
from the website, got price with shipping included. The
eyepiece showed up a week later without problem. I would
use again.
