Rodenstock Wide Angle 40mm

This eyepiece has the best views of the 40mm 70 deg AFOV eyepieces but is very heavy (3.2 lbs). There is no kidney-beaning or blackouts and you can see the full 70 deg AFOV without moving your eye. It drops off in sharpness just a little on the edge but not as much as the other 40mm eyepieces. I use it in 120mm f5 & 150mm f8 refractors and an XT10 10 in f5 DOB with great results in all three.

I would give it a 10 if it were the size of the Pentax XL 40mm but I think it needs the giant 70mm dia. elements to pull off the easy 70 deg AFOV view with no blackouts.
