Fujinon 8x42 CD
Clear and sharp to the edge, easily better than 7x and 10x brethren. Cosidered the much brighter phase coated Pentax version but was turned off by the narrow FOV and vastly inferior construction. That said, the Pentax is a better buy at $400 as opposed to Fuji at $550.00. These rather expensive and heavy Fuji binoculars are overbuilt to a fault. Wish they were phase coated.

Fujinon 8x42 CD
I had just purchased the updated phased coated Fujinon 8x42 CD on 9/20/01. They bright, sharp from edge to edge and easy to to focus. I owned a pair each of 8x20 pocket Leica and Zeiss binoculars. I was planning to purchase a larger pair of their bretheren. Not now. The CD's are a best kept secret! Check them out for your self!

Fujinon 8x42 CD
Bought a pair of the Phase Coated version
for myself and a pair of the similar Pentax
for my wife. Spent a weekend critically
comparing the two, side by side, until
my eyes were exhausted. Found the Pentax
were optically a little better but the
Fujinon were heavier and mechanically
superior. I sent the Fujinon back for a
refund and bought the Swarovski 8.5x42EL,
which truly is a "10" for roof prism
binoculars. Still like porro prism binoc's
better, with my Nikon 7x50 Prostar and
Fujinon 8x30 Marine Tested being my favorites.
