Orion Mini Giant 8X56
I have my Orion 8X56 for about a week now and I like them very much. They are the same size as standard Binoculars, but appear brighter, and there is no distortion all the way out to the edges. For the price, I dont think you can find a better set of binoculars. I find that they are suitable for hand held observing, they are not too powerfull to demand a tripod.

I found the edges quite mediocre, but I suppose this is typical for a relatively inexpensive bino. More troubling was that they were never very sharp on axis, either...one tube being noticibly less sharp on axis than the other.

Amazing light gathering ability.Large dim objects like M33 are much easier to find than with my 8" telescope. Milky Way star fields and clusters will knock your eyes out. Nice sturdy construction. A very good deal for the money. Orion is now selling these for $149.00

I bought these for a not too expensive astro travel binos... a good value for the price. Solidly made, edge views are a bit out of focus... not close to my Fujinons but very pleased with what I used them for; no complaints.

I've had mine for many years now and still marvel when I look through them. No-one ever looks in them without issuing a 'wow!'. I've read in these reviews some complaints on lack of clarity and edge sharpness, but I've never experienced any of these issues. Images through mine remain clear, bright, flawless in colour and sharp-as-a-needle. On my home-built binoc stand, I can gave skywards for hours.

I've owned these binos for 3 years and have used them extensively. They are flat and sharp from edge to edge with no distortion. These are the only optics I've ever seen M33 in. The brightness of the image is very pleasing. The coatings seem to be smooth and even givng almost no reflection. I have no trouble hand holding them. One tip that every Mini-Giant owner needs to know is to buy the contoured "wing" eyeguards from Orion. Simply put them inside the existing eyecups and you have a system similar to what Fujinon provides. It definitely provides superior light blocking. The description at the begining is wrong, these are Porro not roof prism.

All my friends who have tried this one says "Woooow", not because they are dogs but because they give you an exstreamley bright view of objects from dawn to dusk. And I enjoy this Binoculare from dusk to dawn :-)

noticable difference in sharpness one eyepiece. had them for about a year. should have went for higher quality. not my eyes. turn them over and swap left to right shows the problem in the other eye.
