Canon 18x50 IS-AW
I wrote the earlier review of this product. I've since used them for another few months and have changed my opinion slightly. I find that I DO actually use these binocs more than my Canon 15x45ISs, since the improved contrast and slightly larger objectives do quite noticably improve the limiting magnitude and resolution. The price has also now dropped to around $1k street, which makes them a bit better value, though still quite pricey. So, while I would still advise people to buy the 10x30s or 15x50s over these for general use, those of you who, like me, are serious "astrobinocophiles," and have other binocs for terrestrial viewing, should definitely consider these. What stargazers really need, however, is an image stabilized 18x60 or 20x63 or even 22x70 model! When will Canon give us one of those??

Canon 18x50 IS-AW
When used for astronomical viewing they exibit severe coma and have extremely poor color correction.

Compared to Canon camera lenses they dont live up to their reputation.
