Retail mostly, and in some cases above retail for prices. OK catalog though, needs better brands for Audio Equipment, shipping isn't bad, good for ordering installation kits for head unit installs (Car Audio), that's about it.. :)

Prices can be higher than needed, best service, and shipping prices ($5.95 for
just about anything you buy). I bought a full Atlantic Technology 250.1 speaker
set that normally cost $1899 retail, they had it for $1699, but it was
discontinued and I got it for $1199. They have a 4 payment plan (no
additional cost, or finance charges). The several hundred pounds of speakers
cost only $5.95 to ship, and that's UPS 2nd Day.

Great deal.

Phone service is horrible. Wait on hold is about 15 minutes. Prices are way higher on current models and less than 10 percent off on discontinued models.

Very knowledgable salesmen. Friendly staff and great return and shipping policies.
I didn't rate them a 10 because they offer no discounting off retail.
Better off going somewhere else if you know exactly what you want.

I've had two positive experiences with Crutchfield. Pricing was more competitive than retailers in my area, and I received products within a week. Service is great! Only knock is that lower mail-order pricing can be found.

For all those people giving Crutchfield Bad Ratings, I don't know whats wrong with you cause you shouldn't rate everything on prices. You better be damn happy that you didn't try ordering from ABC Stereo (A company known for charging your credit card and not delivering your product), Shop 4 (Membership required, asks you questions for questions like "What is my tracking number" and they say "Why do you want to know that?"), or Smile Photo Video and Electronics (Very Very Rude ships your product when they feel like it and they don't even give you new ones sometimes). Be damn happy that there is a company that you can actually trust cause someday your going to get ripped off cause all you care about is prices not reputation.

Yes, their prices are generally waaaaaaaaaaaay too high (hey guys, this is a mail order business, your margins have GOTTA be increased enough to at least take a few percent off list!) but their service and support are top notch. The $5.95 shipping on just about anything is a nice touch when other vendors are obviously inflating their prices through shipping costs. Shop their closeouts =)

sale people always ask for the ID no. in their catalog before anything.
even they show the products in their catalog, BUT the items are always " inavalable at this time " or " out-of-stock ".

What is it? service sucks.

I ordered a mounting kit for my Oldsmobile. It was exactly as described in the catalog. No parts were missing and it was delivered three business days from the order date. The instructions were great! Their prices on electronics are a fraction below retail. When they run specials, the prices are competitive. I've never talked to a rude representative. I think they run an honest business and I recommend them to people that are looking for more than the lowest price. If you're looking for bargains, shop somewhere else.

Been ordered with them 3 times, the last time was the best deal, let me explain:
I ordered a Polk HT speaker set (closeout) for 1,600, that damn set (2 65lbs powered tower[RT1000p], one 25lbs center[CS350], and 2 13lbs [LS f/x] surrounds) with speaker rack (BT-77),and cables was almost 200 lbs, shipped it to me UPS overnight (not 2 day) for 9.99, not too bad right?
And then I saw on Polk's web page they had a deal of throw in a centre channel when you buy more than 600 bucks, so I call crutchfield. Found the first salesman that deal with me (Carl, 1-800-388-2911 ext 3210) and explained to him the situation, he immediately knock off 150 bucks from my total (because CS225 sells for 150). Couldn't be more happier than that.
For those of you who still bear with me might think: Gee, I can get a better deal than that! But don't forget price is not everything. Where I might not get the best price I certainly got the best service/peace of mind(try abcstereo.com) with my bucks. No regreds. Got 1 point kock off because I don't believe in perfect 10, 9 for me is already a perfect.

If you want a valid warrnaty, from a dealer authprozed by the manufacturer to actually sell the products they sell (unlike virtually every internet retailer on the web - check with the manufacturers if you don't believe me), and you want a company that will stand behind everything they sell 100% and will go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied, then buy from Crutchfield every chance you get. Save $5 or $10 or even $100 elsewhere, and take your chances. It's your money! I have made many, many purchases from Crutchfield over the years, and while not every purtchase has been flawless, any problems have been corrected immediately, and with a smile. Companies like that deserve my $, and will continue to get it. Mr. Crutchfield knows how to take care of his customers.
