I recently purchased AR318PS floorstanding speakers. i auditioned a lot of speakers : Infinity, Polk Audio, Klipsch, Tannoys, PSB, B&W, Mission....Infinity Overture series is superior in sound and richness. For classical music I think Infinity does an excellent job. But they are VERY expensive. For roughly $500 a pair, AR318 does a very good job. The bass is excellent, much better than Polk or Mission. The mid range is OKish. If you listen to a wide range of music and dont have too much money to spend, I think AR318 is the best buy.

Praise the gods above for Acoustic Research, so far everything that i have bought from this company is well priced and performs like a marvel of science and what better to have inside these massive jewels then bob's delicious amp's. These robust babies weigh in like a champ but when you get them stationed they take off like the appollo 13. I gave them a nine because they are still a little to high on price by a hair but regardless are worth every penny and nobody gets a ten these days. If you have a chance audition these monolith's and you'll see that Acoustic Research is on the ball!!!

Plastic sound , plastic bass... too plastic.B&W and Infinity are much,mych better than any AR speaker

Best speakers I've ever owned. Some one put them out in trash. I grabbed them, replaced a fuse now they work like new.
