Bose Acoustimass 15
The Acoustimass 15 is still not an audiophile system, but it is a significant improvement over prior Bose offerings. They seem to have addressed the two main issues with the previous incarnations of their product: subwoofer output and dynamic range.

The 15 is crystal clear and has great imaging. Bass output is tight and the satellites have significantly improved high-end output.

The 15 is also better suited to DD/DTS than all previous Bose offerings since all five channels are fully matched. The inclusion of a separate subwoofer input allows full LFE response with DD/DTS as well.

If you have an opinion based on listening to prior Acoustimass or Lifestyle systems than demo the 15's to hear a real difference.

I have the STR-DE925 receiver and the Toshiba SD-3107 DVD player. I bought the Acoustimass 15 speakers based on listening comparisons with Energy, AR, and JBL. They all sounded good to me but the Acoustimass 15 offered me the best size/quality ratio.

I am very happy with the setup and I agree that the Acoustimass 15 speakers sound great.

I HAVE BOUGHT A BOSE AM-15, SPEAKER PACKAGE TO BE USED WITH MY YAMAHA RX-V995 RECEIVER. BELIEVE ME, I FEEL THAT THERE IS NO SPEAKER LIKE BOSE AM15. NO SPEAKER CAN MATCH IT'S RELIABILITY, CLARITY AND POWER. THEY ARE THE BEST SPEAKERS IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

They are too much money. I would only pay $999, and they are $1299. This is a rip off. E-mail me when they go on sale.

I enjoy listening to my Bose speakers. This was the best investment I have made. I use my speakers with a 200 Kenwood receiver. what a sound. I enjoyed thhis holiday season listening to all the Jazz music.

While looking fo new speakers for a home theater/audio sys. I was excited to listen to AM-15's, I figured a lot of bang for your buck. So I went to a friends house who had the AM-10's with a denon receiver I was not impressed. Still excited about hearing the 15's, because of the active subwoofer instead of the passive in the 10's and the reputation of bose, I went to the bose outlet in Huntley, Il. The store had the full set up of all the bose components. I went with my wife who has ears like an innocent child - she has never heard a "good" stereo and never read anything about them.
Now the demo began with a DVD demo. The home theater sound was ok nothing to impressive but ok. now time for the audio. I brought some of my own cd's and used the demo cd's they had. Simply put I would not buy these speakers, even for under $500.00. I mean no disrespect to those who like them(If they sound good to you it's worth the money)but I walked out shaking my head. I can honestly say I would not buy these speakers at any price.

When you are able to listen to the Bose AM15 side by side with other speakers, you will hear an extreme difference between the Bose and other speakers. Unfortunately, Bose usually does not allow distributors to have a display that allows this type of direct comparison. A dealer I went to allowed me to compare them to the smallest Dynaco speakers -- I was shocked at the lack of sound coming from the Bose -- Mids were totally missing. If you have an opportunity to do this, you will realize that the Bose AM15 are not for people who want quality sound for their money.

FINALLY!! :)
For that kind of money, Acoustimass is my favorite.

I bought this because it is small and easy to blend into my living area. The sound is good, but bass control can be a problem. My sub had to be installed in a corner, which made bass "boomy" even with the lowest setting. I have since upgraded receivers which helped me reduce the problem, but the sub seems to still work a little harder than the rest of the system.

I wouldn't buy it again, as there are more similarly size products now to choose from, but I do enjoy the system!

FIND TWO PAIR OF OLD ADVENT SPEAKERS USED (ABOUT $200), THEN SPEND THE REST OFYOUR MONEY ON CDS, DVD'S OR BEER. THESE SPEAKERS HAVE SOMETHING BOSE DON'T, BASS AND HIGH'S 9 EVEN A GREAT TWEETER!!!!! HENRY KLOSS (NUFF SAID)

I work at a major A/V retailing chain store where we have the opportunity to setup satelite systems side by side with immediate switching for our customers. There has not been a single time that a customer has chosen the bose setup over an Infinity or JBL satelite system hooked up with a real sub. Funny thing is, the other systems, including a true 12" amplified sub, would come in at $200-$400 less than the Bose. All of you who think that your Bose setups sound great...Why don't you ask yourself why they never publish their frequency response specs. I'll say it again for the masses. Bose = no highs, no lows.

I use these speakers with YAMAHA RX-V800 and DVD-796 player, well the movie soundtracks and live concerts in DD and DTS are fantastic ! 10 pts. for that ! There is no doubt that this system is the best choice when You look for space-save speaker system. In stereo reproduction I prefer to use my old Audio Physic Tempo speakers, BOSE just don't seem to be good for this. 6 pts for Stereo

Read the sound and vision June edition 2000( I Think). Sound and vision reviewers were amazed at the system. These are professionals who use high end equipment and hear the best. I will make a few quotes "I checked to see if my profesional monitors were still playing" no he replied"the Bose speakers were blowing me away", the sound was like seismic bubbles" "The imaging was excellent and was able to allow a two to three person Sweet spot" Now these statements were in the Sound vision Magazine. I have heard many different systems in comparison to Bose and I agree that there are amazing speakers on the market BESIDES Bose. I just get dissapointed to see those who like to put others down just because they can't have the best. Last point to make is off the review above. This describes one of the low points of the Bose Acoustimass 15. For all of you who say that bose has no highs and no lows, For those who say that the system can't play mid-range sound (That pretty much elimates all sound) The review stated that highs were real and rich and not over emphasised and the bass was full and rich and able to accomodate large areas with rich bass. The one that gets me is that how could a speaker with no midrange be docked for " a bit too much midbass with baritones" Now read the article and learn something. I will go now and relax to my system and know that I may not be listening to my friends Legacy Wispers but, I had enough money for my HK and Diamond widescreen.
