B&W DM 601
These aren't as good as B&W's are supposed to be. The tweeter seems harsh
and unmusical - I liked the cheaper DM302 better. Not very efficient, not
much bass, just not a very good deal.

This speaker sounds great in my system:
Yamaha 2092 receiver, B&W 602 fronts, B&W 601 rears, B&W CC6 center, TN1225HO subwoofer

I think it does a tremendous job as full range rear speakers for my home theater system. They are even very good as fronts. Although I feel for $150 more the B&W 602 are better performance for value. B&W 602 has better highs and a little more (and tighter) bass.

All in all, the 601s are a great musical and home theater speaker. I would recommend anyone to audition B&W 600 series.

Great value for the money - CAN$ 470.00

I use them with the Denon PMA-520 amplifier, in a home office/computer system setting. Perhaps not an audiophile's choice, but if used as general purpose, medium quality speakers, they do a great job. Small size makes them well suited for a wall installation. Virtually distortion free up to the volume, where you don't want them used anyway.

Highly recommended.

Generally, 601s sound very impressive to me on the midband and highs. But they sound a little slow and boomy in the midbass area. Otherwise, good speakers for the money.

Hey, if you have 400.00 to spend on a pair of speakers for the home or studio, you can't be too terribly picky. My recent purchase of B&W's DM601's has really proven to be a wise choice. They do what they are soposed to do. And they do it very well. The high's are smooth and well defined and the lows have a very usable punch. The mid's are sweet There's just the right amount of crunch. I'm using them for studio monitoring @ 3 feet and I'm happy. If your room sucks, though, nothin is gonna sound good. Come on, what do you expect for $400. Push em hard or ride em soft. They are unbeatable for the money.

Very nice ... sound exellent with classical and jazz, no subwoofer needed as some people said.

(Tryed with YAMAHA AX-492 amp, Musical Fidelity X-PRE/X-A50 amps and Marantz CD67SE CD Player)

I recently purchased the 601 and use them as my front speakers and - get this - I actually place them in a bookshelf. OK, perhaps not the best location but I have no other practical place for the speakers. They seem to fair much better then others speakers I've tried (Infinity, Mirage, Definitive). Not certain why but regardless to me they are execptional value with excellent tonal balance and a great musical sound (in a good sense - not coloration) particularly for jazz and vocals. Not so good for Rock, but then I think this is due to the location and heavy use of mid bass with Rock music. I also have an Energy subwoofer but feel the speakers don't really need it. Only for Home Theater.

Bought mine for $180/pr at a factory close out. Gotta say that I figured I'd be upgrading them as soon as finances permitted. Nope! True, I have a subwoofer, which helps their bottom end a bit, but by bi-wiring and putting on stands away from the wall, even my audiophile buddy who has Mirage/Rotel stuff shakes his head when he hears this speaker. I have spanked the snot out of them and have yet to hear a clip or distortion, due at least in part to the ACI Quake sub (another awesome audio find). Certainly not the last word in audiophilia, but for price, I will probably upgrade my system's speakers last, if at all!

Great sounding speaker, at a price much lower than Martin Logans. They sound almost as good as my friends' Logans but at about 1/5th the price, and aren't quite as loud.
