Onkyo TX-DS575
This unit blew me away! I've owned a couple of models of both Kenwood and Sony. Now, I realize those aren't the best receivers in the world, and I'm not an expert, but this is the best sounding receiver I've ever heard!

I've got it hooked to 5 NHT SuperOnes. I've been listening to a variety of CDs (Tchaikovsky, Hendrix, Clapton Unplugged) and watching Dolby 5.1 movies on my DSS. I am absolutely astounded at how good this thing sounds. No hiss detected at any level (from whisper soft all the way up to "turn me into a jelly head".

Remote control was a godsend for me...able to run my Samsung TV, 15-year old Teac CD, DSS, RCA VCR and the receiver. No real programming needed, just point your old remote at the new one, push the buttons on the old one and new one that should be the same, it learns.

I don't see how it could be any better for less than $500.

Onkyo TX-DS575
Great no whistles or bells, just the performance which is great for those of use looking for quality sound at an affordable price. Completely satisfied with my 575, and don't get me started about the remote. Finally got to retire my pile of others (to the great relief of the g/f).

Onkyo TX-DS575
Excellent performer. I auditioned several other digital receivers like the HK AVR 45, a Sony, and the Onkyo 474. The 575 and the HK stood out. Of the two, I would say the 575 offers the most. More features like DTS, Sound fields that acutually sound different and good enough to listen to, and more power. I dont think the sound is as dynamic as the HK unit, but it does have more bass and no distortion at high volume. There is no S video or preamp jacks for external amplifiers, but for this price and name brand it has everything one should expect. This is the first digital or pro logic receiver I've listened to that has soundfields that sound like they are suposed to! They are so good that I rarely leave the unit in stereo mode. This receiver is the perfect transitional unit between the beginner digital home theaters and the ultra high end "almost a house payment" receivers.

Onkyo TX-DS575
I made a test of TXDS 575, the receiver as amplifier has enough power to run full range speakers(20Hz -....)so there is no need of active subwoofer, unless the room is larger than 5x5 meters, and user isn't satisfied with full range speakers effects which this amplifier can offer.

I have the exact same problem with 2 of these units. Did you find a solution.

Onkyo TX-DS575
An incredible waste of money. We've had ours for 5 years and it has 1) been in the shop once 2) randomly produces totally garbled sound and 3) suddenly stopped producing sound for our DVD.

We're planning on buying a new one tomorrow - you can bet it won't be an Onkyo.
