Celestron NexStar 9¼ GPS
I think I'm one of the 1st to get one of these. I ordered it the day after they were announced. I am extremely pleased with this scope. It's my 1st scope over 5 in, and my 1st goto scope. The Goto was flawless right out of the box is intuitive and easy. The OTA assembly is about 58lbs, but manageable. The optics looked good, but needed a collimation tweak. Very sharp.

If I had to do this all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
Solid purchase and value for your money.

Steve

I'm not a newbie and I've owned roughly 20 different scopes from newts to apos and just about everything in between. I purchased a new NexStar 9.25 GPS and the GPS was malfunctioning. I drove 250 miles one way to exchange it for another new 9.25. It linked up fairly quickly and I brought it home. It did everything it was supposed to do and I was happy, for about 5 minutes. The pointing accuracy and repeatability is so bad in the replacement scope that it's unusable. I think Celestron is knowingly putting questionable scopes into the marketplace and hoping that people are too new to notice or too timid to do anything about it. I am giving serious thought to contacting my state's and California's Attornies General to discuss this fraudulent behavior. If you are thinking of buying a NexStar my advice is to think again. I have no experience with any other goto scopes so don't confuse my statements with brand bashing or loyalty. Unless Celestron addresses these type of issues and ceases to knowingly ship bad product they deserve to go out of business. I am a proud American and I think we as consumers deserve better, especially from an American company.

Caveat Emptor,

I do think your quote "no experience" shows true. What it sounds to me is that you dont read instructions. With a good read I think you will find it is you and not the scope.Having 25 yrs. in some type of an eyepiece I know first hand that this is a very fine scope.Good luck and dont give up,I think you will be very happy once you learn the functions of the scope.
>You might mention the optics. The scope doesn't deserve a 0 because you have trouble with the goto.
You are a complete idiot. Get away from astronomy if you don't like this scope as is one of the best cats ever built. Adios amigo.

Excellent value for the moeny, fine optically perhaps best Celestron optics in a SCT. Stable mount but at or near its limits in ALt/Az, Very intuitive interface and plenty of control and customizing available.

The best SCT I have ever owned. Better than the Meade LX 200 8" and 10". The optics are fantastic for the price. The goto's are right on the money with my CCD camera! In short, I'm not just happy - I'm thrilled! It is worth every cent and then some. Get the wedge, it works and so does the wedge software setup.
