Lomo Astele 180
I OWN A LOMO 180 OPTICAL TUBE ASSEMBLY. ITS CONTRUCTION IS HEAVY DUTY, BUT THE FINISH IS NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE QUALITY FINISH YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A TOP RATED TELESCOPE, WITH THAT ASIDE

IT IS REALLY HEAVY IT WEIGHS IN AT APROX. 20 LBS. SO A REAL DURABLE MOUNTING IS A NECESSITY.

THE MIRROR IS ASTRO SITAL AND IT PROVIDES FIRST RATE OPTICS AND VERY, VERY GOOD STAR TEST. THE CORRECTOR
IS COATED AS IS THE MIRROR BUT I DO NOT HAVE ANY SPECIFICATIONS OF THE REFLECTABILITY. IT HAS A FOCAL LENGHT OF 1800 MM. F/10. IT COMES COMPLETE WITH A FIRST RATE 10 X 40MM FINDER SCOPE.

THROUGH THE EYEPIECE THE IMAGES SHOW GOOD CONTRAST
AND RESOLUTION. AFTER THE TELESCOPE COOLS DOWN IN APROX. 90 MIN YOU ARE READY FOR SERIOUS OBSERVING.IT
HANDLES PLANETARY ,DOUBLE STARS, AND DEEP SKY WELL.
YOU OFTEN HEAR THE VIEW THROUGH A MAK/CASS CALLED
REFRACTOR LIKE , IN THIS CASE IT IS TRUE.
I USE A 2" DIAGONAL COMBINED WITH A WIDE ASSORTMENT
OF EYEPIECES AND BINOVIEWER AND I AM PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS. I THINK THE LOMO IS EXTREMELY UNDERATED
AND OVERLOOKED , IT CAN PROVIDE VIEWS RIVALING MORE
EXPENSIVE MAK/ CASS. IF YOU HAVE THE CHANCE TO VIEW
THROUGH ONE DO SO YOU WILL BE SURPRISED.
THINGS I LIKE ABOUT THE LOMO 180
--- OPTICS
--- FOCUSER
---- FINDER SCOPE
THINGS I DONT LIKE
--- WEIGHT
--- FINISH
--- HEAVY DUTY MOUNTING NEEDED.
