I purchased the Vixen 90mm Fluorite just about a year ago. At that time, Orion Telescope was "closing out" the telescope and GP Mount for an amazing $1500.

The telescope is a joy to use. The Cassinni Division on Saturn is there everytime you look. The detail on Jupiter is fantastic. Detail surrounding the GRS can be noted. Lunar details are perfect at 200+ magnification. If I had a shorter FL eyepiece, I am sure the scope to go to 300X on lunar images. Sighting the "E" star in the Trapezium is easily accomplished. Contrast is such that Flame Nebula in Orion is observed from urban location.

I see that these wonderful telescopes sell for under $1200 on the used market. I think they are a very good value at that price level.

This scope behaves more like a 100mm than a 90mm but it is much more compact and portable.

Images of the Gas Giants are indistinguishable from those produced by my Intes MN-61 Deluxe and that is saying something because the MN-61 is a superb example of fine optics. Easily the finest sub-5" APO I've ever used.

Lens cell can be collimated. Mine needed it after shiping and now even the brightest stars are pinpoints of light on a velvet black background. In steady seeing, color in the bands of Jupiter is easy. Cassini division on Saturn is as sharp as I've ever seen it. 75x-100x per inch of aperture is no problem for this scope when seeing is steady.

I obtained mine used in mint condition from Astromart. Too bad Vixen stopped making them.
