Yamaha RX-V2095 w/DTS
Hi I have the Pro Cinema 100.6 sub/sat system. I would like to know what I would be better off getting the Yamaha RX-V2095 or the Yamaha RX-V995?What is better about the Yamaha RX-V2095?

I’ve had this unit for 3 months now and am “LOVE IT” !!
There is one thing everyone should know about the Sub Woofer output though.
If you want your Sub to work all the time you have to set the
speaker setting to BOTH. Yamaha’s speaker setting options for the Sub are as follows:
1) SW – Sub Woofer only functions when unit is processing a 5.1 channel
signal (DD) (90Hz and below)
2) MAIN – Sub woofer output does not function-signal is sent to your main
speakers
3) Both – Sub Woofer receives a signal (90 Hz and below) all of the time
including during any sound reproduction (CD, VCR, etc.)

I wish the manual indicated this. I had to call Yamaha directly to find out why my sub was only working “some of the time”. Good thing was that Yamaha has an 800 number and the service dept was pretty cool.

The remote needs to be improved and the owners manual could be vastly improved.

I purchased the RX-V2095 about one month ago and could not be more pleased. I retired an ancient Marantz solid state pre-amp, model 15 power amp, and model 125 turner to upgrade to a home video system. The Yamaha 2095 has proven to be an outstanding platform for playing dolby digital 5.1 DVDs. (I tried the 7.1 surround sound but the quality of the speakers I was using for the front effects compromised the overall performance.) A big surprise for me was that I found I enjoy using several of the DSP modes for playing DVD's. This was something I thought I would have no real use for. The most important factor for me, and the one which sold me on the 2095 over other receivers, is its ability to play music acceptably. I purchased PSB Stratus Bronze speakers for my mains and have fallen in love with combination of the 2095 and the Stratus Bronze speakers. The price performance ratio of this combination is exceptional. I paid $1249 for the 2095 at Uncle's Stereo. Highly recommended!

Try something more High-Fidelity.

What are you basing this opinion on? Are you trying to compare to other receivers in this price class or MArk Levinson or Krell amps?
Your rating is not warranted based upon your limited info provided to back your opinion.

This receiver has the largest power supply in its price class. It has the most power as well. IT outperforms any Harman Kardon receiver, NAD T-770, Denon 3600, Marantz, Onkyo, etc.

Get a clue before you post.

The power supply has 2 X 22000uF caps and 2X 8200 uF caps, all discrete amps on each channel. Oh yeah, it is not very musical though. Perhaps your speakers suck.

Purchased the unit four months ago, and have found that it is above reporch with regard to imaging when set-up properly. Stereo listening is very good, but with the various modes avaible one will tend to use them in all aspecte of home entertaining: jazz club is truly great for most jazz recordings, and one of the hall positions is more realistic than listening in straight stereo. At normal listening levels the sound is excellent; however, at loud volums the midrange is a hair bright.
Using DVD's, the surround sound in all aspects is excellent. One will think that they are in a super movie house. Buy it you will love it.

How does the Yamaha RX-V2095 w/DTS compare with Denon's AVR-5700 THX, Marantz's SR-18, Pioneer's VSX-09TX Elite, and Sony's TA-E9000ES. I'm currently shopping for an good receiver and would appreciate some feedback from anyone.

This an upgrade from a Yamaha RX-V990 for me. I've only had this unit for five days, so I'm still learning to use all of it's features. I find that it takes a lot of experimenting with the various sounds fields and thier fine tuning adjustments. Nevertheless, I'm in love with this unit. The most appealing item (besides the incredible sound reproduction) is the "auto-input" feature. For example when I am using my satelite reciever, the RX-V2095 automatically switches between "Dolby Digital" and "PCM" depending on the movie source I'm viewing. My recomendation to everyone is, "Just Buy It."

well ive had this unit for a little over a week now and im extremely happy with it thus far.Previously i owned the yamaha rx-v1070 which is the flagship receiver backk oh id say in 93 or 94...it looks i dentical to the 2095 in many retrospects but had way less dsp modes in and outputs etc..of course being older and all..but unlike some others i am a fan of the dsp modes on the 2095 especially the 70mm sci-fi and 70 mm adventure modes..they just make everything nice and bright but not to bright as to exagerate any sounds or give incorect positioning..coupled with my sony dvp s7700 its freakin awesome! oh btw if u can muster up a good set of mini bookshelves or just some bookshelf speakers add them in cause the 7 channel mode kicks major ass as well..it really widens the front stage nicely.
PS: if u are considering the DSP-A1 the 2095 is a much beter bang for your buck..its just as good and u can take the extra thousand bucks and get those extra set of speakers for the 7 channel mode..i had the pleasure of hearing both of these umits(A1 and 2095) and their is no advantage over the 2 other then the fact that the A1 looks like its worth 3000+ cause of its chrome and high gloss side panels etc..its your money

I recently upgraded from my old standby, the Yamaha DSP-A700. I purchased the DSP-A700 ten years ago when Surround Sound Processers were fairly new to the market and, at that time, it was the best that I could find. Now Yamaha has out done themselves. The RX-V2095 is very, very good. It incorporates all of the features of my old DSP-A700 and much more. The RX-V2095 produces suround sound as "real as it gets" - Crisp, clear, dynamic sound.

This receiver is excellent. I had the RX-V990 with the DDP-2 before. This one is so much better. It is also very musical. This one is definitely a winner.
