Wide field, but mediocre eye relief makes full field somewhat wasted. Good sharpness. Fair contrast.

optically great, but must fold down eyeguard to get close enough to enjoy entire field. eye relief slightly limits effective field

This is a very good eyepiece. When I compared it to a Pentax XL 7mm, the Nagler was much sharper at the edge of the field. Only draw back is I have to rebalance my scope to use the 7mm.

Too short eye relief - dews up in cold weather, uncomfortable to use. Some internal reflections when looking at Jupiter and Saturn. Good sharpness, a bit low on contrast.

I find the eyerelief fine, but I don't wear glasses. This is perhaps the ultimate high power eyepiece. Particularly nice on a scope without tracking motors. Crystal clear, razor sharp images.

A real "go-to" eyepiece. Eye relief is a bit short and is subject to some eyelash grease after a bit of use. Splits the double-double in a Pronto easily.

I consider this to be an essential EP. Very sharp for this focal length. I do not find the eye relief to be a problem. I did notice some internal reflections from nearby light sources. Very versatile EP, same weight as my Panoptic 19, and much smaller in weight and girth than my Nagler 9. Can be used with almost any scope/mount combo due to light weight.

Field (1.1 degrees at 69x and .5 degree at 137x with Pronto).

The 7mm Nagler is a wonderful eyepiece. In my scope it gives me almost 260X with crystal clear images. Contrast is very good, and edge sharpness is excellent.

Eye releif is a bit tight - go with a Radian if you wear glasses. But my oh my! When looking at 82 degrees at this high a power, the sight is just wonderful.

I have the older version, the one without the eyecup. I have considered trading it in for a Radian, but cannot seem to let it go. I have a certain love affair going with it. Maybe it is because it was my first Nagler eyepiece. Maybe it is the field of view. Who knows? I recommend this eyepiece to anyone!

A very good eyepiece. If the eye relief were a bit longer, I would have given it a 10. This eyepiece provides me with pretty much the maximum usable power for my scope, so I use it a lot for planetary work. Saturn and Jupiter are sharp and contrasty through this eyepiece. On the Moon, I notice none of the kidney bean distortion that is somewhat noticable with the 9mm Nagler on the moon.

Hi, I use this eyepiece on my meade etx, and meade 10" Dob. The reason I give this eyepiece a 8, is beacause I find it is only useful on 2 objects, the moon and saturn. However it works FANTASTIC on the moon and saturn. It provides images that are extremly sharp with tremendous contrast. I would HIGHLY reccommend this eyepiece for the moon and saturn, giving it a 10 rating for these two objects. If anybody wants to email me, Tommeehonda@webtv.net

The Nagler 7 is my favorite eyepiece for high power. I am the owner of over 30 eyepieces and I find that the 7 Nagler (plus the 15 and 24 TeleVue Wide-Fields) are the 3 eyepieces I use 90% of the time. I consider it to be one of the best, if not the best eyepiece in the TeleVue stable of great eyepieces.

I was sorely disappointed in this eyepeice. Compared to a Tak LE, it exibited a pronounced loss of clarity. Traded this one away. It could be considered fair until I looked through a Tak LE.

The short eye-relief and poor contrast make this a less than desireable eyepiece for any type of critical observing. Ghosting and internal reflections make this a very poor planetary and lunar eyepiece. Very disappointing performance considering the high price.

Better eye relief than the 4.8, I find I just don't use the short fl Naglers as often as my much lighter orthos. This one isn't bad at all in the contrast & sharpness categories....just a bit of ghosting.
