Overall pretty nice but a few cavaets:
The receiver buzzes after it's been on for a while. There is also a low level hiss that is present if standing close to the speaker. For this level of receiver, I wouldn't expect such a thing.

The amp section provides plenty of power for my speakers (AR) and roomsize (about 20x20).

The remote is pretty powerful, though difficult to use.

Still, overall a good deal at about $1K bought about a year and a half ago. These days it seems the price for this level of receiver has gone down some.

Dear sir, I have bought the DA777ES . But i find the manual is insufficient regarding to various term use. It does not explains especially various mode in calibrating the sound system.

I've had my 7ES since June of 2000, bought new with a Sony discount at the studio store, so cost me only a hair under $800 cash. At that price, this was a steal and a half. I can't believe this baby is five years old. It is a bit hard to get around the interface of the unit and the cool remote, but it sounds amazing for a receiver and has been incredibly reliable all these years. Reading around the Internet tonight, I'm pretty excited to find that this is a stand-out model. Should help me get top dollar when I'm ready to upgrade to a receiver with HDMI inputs and outputs in the next year or so. Probably one of the few things I ever bought that lost almost no value in the first couple of years, though I wonder how much my HD-ready Panasonic purchased with a hefty employee discount is worth a year later... Bet that's still worth more than I paid for it, too.

It will be hard to ever bring myself to pay full price at a dealer again!
