Find another dealer. If you want to get shafted, KhanScope is the place to go.
They are all whistle and bells until they get your money, then screw you!! So called expertise on prepartation of a scope, didn't notice an OTA which was rotated 180 degrees out of norm. Found out when using a newly installed declination motor, Up went down, down went up! (It had been taken apart and when put back together the tube was installed the wrong way.) Screws crudely painted over to hide the fact they had been removed and a latitude lock adjustment screw installed backwards so that it was impossible to adjust.
Stay away from this crowd.........it will only bring you grief!! Check out Efston Science and Perceptor, two Canadian dealers who will stand behind your purchase with service and consideration.

Ray has been nothing short of amazing. He's answered all my e-mails within a day, always takes the time to make sure I know what is included and not included in the various things I've purchased over the last year and a half.
Service has always been top notch. The one time I had an item that wasn't 100% to my liking, Ray took it back and offered a full refund without fuss or muss.
I've recently purchased a 10" SkyMentor from Ray and he had it in Ottawa over night , good as his word!

Compared to Pocono Mountain (RIP) and a slew of others I've dealt with over the years, Ray Khan and the staff have always been forthcoming and honest with me. I've never felt that they were trying to take advantage of me or just wnated my money: they wanted me to have the best possible purchasing experience and the best possible equipment.

HIGHLY recommended.

The guy is a bandit! He has ripped off so many people, and it's such common knowledge of what he is like, it's a wonder he managed to stay in there this long. The prices seem competitive (they have to be) but on stuff like some books a gadgets the price is jacked alarmingly!
I've spent a fair bit (10k+) there and deeply regret it -- I didn't come away feeling like a satisfied customer, I came away feeling like a sucker taken for a ride. DON'T shop there! Hopefully he will then go under-- and that can serve as a message to all the other astro shops that are now appearing to know how NOT to behave.

Stay away! The guy's a crook.I traded in an lx 50 on an Ultima 2000 using my credit card.The scope arrived on time but it took three months for a credit on my card.Called many times and got all kinds of excuses. Wrong credit card number on his computer although it worked when I ordered something right after getting the U2K. Also got the "Ray is at a star party "routine. Only got my money because I contacted a friend of his to put pressure on. You've been warned.

I purchased my first telescope from Khan Scopes. I personally purchased it from Ray Khan. I found Ray to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Ray took the time to explain the different types of telescopes as well as their pros and cons. Before I purchased the Meade LXD55 10” I went to various stores and went back periodically to Khan before making my decision. In each case Ray was very helpful and patient with me. His service did not stop their. Even after I have paid for the scope Ray was always there to answer my phone calls and took the time to answer in detail all of my questions.

Another issue that I found Khan Scopes handled with a great deal of professionalism was the fact the Ray related his concerns regarding the mount for the LXD55 10”. Ray was not sure if it was strong enough to handle the weight of the scope well enough to allow for good quality photos to be taken by my camera (mounted on the scope). Ray stated that he will personally check the mount and test it when it comes in. If it does not meet my needs he will return the scope and find a good replacement in its place. Now that’s service!! I will recommend anyone interested in purchasing a telescope to check out Khan Scopes he really has great prices and when dealing with me he has been fantastic.

Good Web site and prices are reasonable. However, proceed with CAUTION, price isn't everything and if you are looking for a commitment from a dealer for service forget KHAN SCOPE.
I purchased a Meade LX10 including the Magellan I and the few questions I had were met with "Check with Meade". You can do a lot better for instance if you go to Efstonscience or Perceptor. The price may be slightly higher but you will get very good service from both!
Ask yourself while checking the ratings on KHAN SCOPE why so many have negative comments. Each is a potential customer who will not purchase from this dealer again. Forgo the hassle and grief, look somewhere else !!

I ordered the new Skywatcher SKP25012EQ6-2IN This moron that I ordered this scope from refuses to answer his Go#$#@
emails, UPS damaged the secondary spider in shipping and now I need a
new one and that owner RAY of crappy Khan scopes won't
answer any internet messages. I even asked for the tracking #'s 4 G%
$#^& TIMES and finally had to call and then found out RAY answers all
the emails , But when you want to order it is answered instantly and
after that you are on your own. You know what Ray ,You will never get
my damn business again eventually you will piss enough
people off
Their are other places to do business with avoid this company
Customer service and support are non-existant and to me that is why I rate companies with

Bought most of my astronomy equipment from Khan's and spent several thousand $'s.My stuff was in good shape and was at a good price.After sale service is very poor and at one time we were verbally abused on the phone(must have been a bad day).We no longer deal with this shop but they had a good inventory and good prices.

If you don't care whether you receive your order or not, or mind calling a hundred times, or receiving damaged merchandise - go ahead and order from this place. My advice to anyone considering a purchase from "CON" is to physically walk into the store and never consider mail-order from them. If they were a US company, the postmaster general would be all over them. I bought from them, and it was a nightmare... Unlike most reputable companies, they immediately charge your credit card the full amount of the purchase. Then you wait...and wait...and wait. You call, and email, and call... You are given the run-around, or just ignored. You get the usual story that it is someone else's fault, because they haven't received their shipment yet.

I can tell you this, after waiting 2 months for my order I was frustrated enough that I nearly bought a plane ticket to fly up to Canada and confront these bozo's face-to-face.

When I did finally receive my scope, it was damaged. Which 'CON' blamed on the shipper, and customs, and others - but not themselves.

Take my advice, don't buy from them - unless you can walk into the store. Yes they have great prices, but knowing what I know now I would pay more for better service and less lies.

If you buy from them (mail order), I wish you luck.

I was looking to purchase a Skymentor 10"dob from them and I did not need all the accessories that it comes with(eyepieces/moon filter, etc.) I talked to Ray and he agreed to lower the price for the scope only. I agreed to buy the scope and 3 days after I received it, I saw he was running a special for the scope w/ all accessories for the same price I bought it for. I called him to see if he would honor the special and send me the accessories and he never returned my call. I called 3 times and I could never get ahold of him. Pricing is competitive but service stinks.....

WOW !!!! I thought I was the only one cheated. Ray Khan sold my Hassleblad camera outfir and pocketed or stole the money. I had shipped it to him and for more than a year waited for my $1,800. US funds. He claimed the check was lost in the mail four times. I now have the Toronto Police investigating and he needs to go behind prison bars. I will never quit telling others and I will never quit exposing the criminal, liar, and thief. The sad part is reading other people's stories. Between Ray Khan and Eric they have a lot to learn. The realitry is that they prefer to do xmas business and internet business. The walk ins are ignored to the point that they make a sale then they screw you after. I bought a Meade and because I did not know better sold me old equipment. When I wanted to return for something better they ignored me . I sold the scope to someone else and then went to hendricks Astro and spent $2K. They treat you better even when you just buy a magazine. Khan is the "Conman" when it comes to telescopes. Besides the store looks like rats nest. Real business men have clean , professional stores. Thats why I buy elsewhere.

Wow - one cannot help but recognize the overwhelming negative feedback here. However, I've done business with Ray many times over the last 10 years, and I've never felt "ripped off" by him. He is a shrewd negotiator, and you'd better know your stuff if you're going to wheel and deal with him. But, as far as buying stuff off the shelves or even ordering product, I've never had a problem/issue with him. I find his prices to be very competitive, and his before sales service to be excellent. His after sales service (with me) has also been very good - any items that I've purchased that weren't satisfactory have been exchanged with no hassles. Overall, I think it's a great place to get a good deal. I would say that the old addage applies to _ANY_ store: Let the buyer beware. I've had situations at Efston where I wish I had been shrewder - but that's how you learn in life. I think both stores are good places to shop.
