Sunfire True Sub Mk II
Best sub on the market for the price. By far the biggest, best bang for your buck bar none. (The high end velodyne 18" sub outperforms it, but you have to spend an additional $600 to get one - and it doesn't beat it by much!)

Size wise, this sub is amazing! It's a tiny 11" cube, but it will blow you
away if properly set-up in a corner and driven by a good, clean receiver. If
you have the bucks, go with the top end velodyne... but if size is an issue
(i.e. you want to hide it or you don't have a lot of room) this sub will knock
your socks off! A great sub! Highly recommended! (I love it so much I bought
two of them... my home theatre ROCKS! ;-)

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I own original Sunfire sub. Yes, it goes deep & plays loud, but it hums, won't always turn itself off, puts out r.f. interference (messes up tv picture)when played loud, was marketed and sold known to have these problems. BE WARY OF SUNFIRE!!!! (Check out the amp review in May HIFI NEWS (UK magazine))

Check out Velodyne or M&K. You'll be happier.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
This sub truely is the best I have ever heard. However, you get some interference in a TV when played loud, but it's bearable. I had the origional sunfire sub, but I broke something in it. I sent in in and when I got it back it had the new updates and it is surely better than the original. I would not trade my sunfire for anything. For the size to loudness ratio, you cannot beat it.
I can make my neighbors house rattle, its so damn loud!!!

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I've had the sunfire for a good month now and have been
satisfied. I went from a pair of Definitive 2002's ( Don't
buy ANYTHING from Definitive that has a powered sub in it!
They fall apart after a while! ) to a pair of Kef Q75's and
the Sunfire - WOW. It's plays tight, deep and VERY loud.
I barely have to turn the thing up in the fairly small room
I keep it in. I did have a problem with Ground Loop hum at
first but the three-prong to two-prong adapter from Radio
Shack cleared that up instantly. This sub is high quality
and high performance in something that hides easliy.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I auditioned the original Sunfire and the Velodyne 1800RII in my home. The Velodyne absolutely demolished the Sunfire! My recommendation is to listen to these speakers in your home and do NOT listen to the hype!

This speaker reproduces low freq's like none other. It's performance has been matched with no other, especially considering the low price tag!

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
1. That 2,700 RMS is NOT RMS, it peak! The velodyn HGS-10 has 1000RMS, and 3,000 PEAK!
2. It's true it goes low and loud, but there's still that nice 20% distortion, and when you go low and loud it's quite noticable.
I listened to both the Sunfire's and Velodynes comparable HGS series. The Velodyns absolutely blew the Sunfires out of the room, there are even plans for HGS-15 and an HGS-18! I know I'm upgradeing when that 450cid
AND I have a question. How do you get 360cid, when useing Pi*(R squared)*travel you get 3.14*(25)*2.35=184cid and 360 doesn't =184??? Or did I fail elementry? That must mean that the Velodyne moves 1200cid!!!

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I have had the Sunfire for a while and I am satisifiied. Note that I am not elated. After a few months of ownership its flaws are clearly evident. Bang for the buck it may be one of the best subs out there. If size is an issue, as it is for me, then I haven't heard its equal. But the best sub in the world it is not.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
This sub rocks....provides low end bass without mucking up the rest of the sound. Listened to Velodynes and others in similar price range. Sunfire blows them away. Why spend more when you can't get better performance

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
yes, hum can be a problem, I cut my ground off and simply reversed the plug and that was the end of the hum!
As far as performance goes, its great!
I use with Celestion SL-6 speakers and I have a sound to die for!
Be warned, your main speaker must have bass of its own, or it wont blend!
Remember guys its a SUB woofer, not a woofer!
I like it because its small, kicks ass, and affordable.
Sure there are better subs, but they are considerably larger!
I think its a great design

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I was able to take this little beauty home for a couple of days, thanks to my local Hi-Fi store. After listening for a few hours I called my salesman back to say two words, (Holy S..t!!) I had a Paradigm PS1000 and wanted to see what 800 dollars more would accomplish as far as base goes. Well, 800 dollars more makes your hair move, your dogs bark, your kids cry, and your neighbors angry. Sold my PS1000 and bought one the next day. Nuf Said.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
This sub is remarkable. I've had no hum problems. I have a very tight space and this worked out fine. It may not be appropriate for critical listening but for explosions such as the depth charge scenes in Das Boote it made my basement shake. Even my heavy slot machine was rattling. Mission accomplished.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I own a Sunfire Mark 2 and I am extremely pleased with its performance. I got tired of all the vented systems out there and decided to try the Sunfire. I chose it because I live in an apartment and I did not want a huge sub cabinet. Aside from its extremely small size, the thing really packs a wallop! It is very clean, play extremely low and has enough volume to rattle things in my kitchen. Of course, the downstairs neighbors probably don't like it. Overall, I would rate it as an awesome sub.

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I bought the Velodyne HGS 18 and was convinced it was the greatest sub in the world. Then the next week I saw the sunfire. Heard it. Bought it. Installed it. Disconnected my Velodyne and promptly returned it. Those of you who can't get rid of a hum shouldn't be messing around with such amounts of money in the first place.... maybe if you learned to install properly, you wouldn't have a hum. My sunfire kicks the Velodyne's butt. I did read elsewhere that people thought the Velodyne beat the Sunfire, so I brought my sub to my friend's house, where he has a velodyne. We compared. We heard. He went out and bought a sunfire and sold his velodyne. I heard no distortion, even when cranked way up. By far the best subwoofer on the market, barnone!!!

Flat frequency response, room thundering lows, very low distortion for a sub, 2700 watt amp. what else is there?

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I was allowed by my local Ovation dealer to try the Sunfire at home.
After intial trial and much adjusting and understanding of Bob Carver's intentions with this little "wonder", I finally succeeded in blending with my main front speakers (Carver AL-111+'s ).
The sound when played through good electronics and properly recorded material is indeed a real pleasure.
It is the room acoustics and placement of the little woofer that makes it work. If you don't have it just right in the corner as recommended it becomes more difficult to get a proper synergy with whatever main speakers you have.
The impact and clarity it allows for in movie sound is awesome. I highly recommend them. Happy shopping!

Sunfire True Sub Mk II
I have lived with this marvel for a year and its still hard to beat. The hum goes away with proper installation/ grounding. Matching to your mains takes some effort and patience with the level, crossover and phase control. But when you get it right, it can be stunning. Another hint, place this beast on a square of marble tile or spike feet to keep it rock solid... rather than directly on your carpet. My biggest issue... don't get your direct view TV too close to the awsome magnetic field it emits.

Very good sub when I first purchased it. The longer I lived with it the more I disliked it. Tried my friends Velodyne SPL, and sold the Sunfire next day.
