really friendly service (contected them only via email/web), items shipped from company fast, only UPS needs some time to ship them to Austria/Europe (more than these 4 days UPS says :( ), prices are not the cheapest but they have lotta in stock.
If shipping to europe wouldnt be that expensive i would order almost all from them.

Outstanding and friendly service, both on the phone and via email. Lots of Takahashi and Televue items in stock and immediately available. Fast, reliable, and fair service. Perhaps slightly higher prices on some items, but certainly not on Tak scopes. Any price difference is more than compensated for by the immediate availability and excellent customer service. A pleasant experience.

Excellent service. Very friendly and helpful via email. Good WWW site. Had everything in stock. Shipped to New Zealand in less than a week, and all arrived well packed and in excellent condition. Pricing good. Not cheapest, but I would rather pay more and know the stuff will arrive. Will definitely use them again.

Exceptionally nice people to deal with. Fair prices and if they don't have it in stock they'll find out when they can get it and call you back right away. Herb and Paula very knowledgeable. I've had 100% satisfaction from them and will continue to patronize their business. And I hope they get clear skies once in a while on the coast of Washington!

Excellent service; although price is not cheapest, but comparable to most other shops. I had only contacted them via email (I'm from H.K.), and received prompt replies to every one of my questions. I had ordered several times from them, everything came on time and very well packed. They'd also allowed me to exchange a product that I ordered, but then decided that I don't really want it after it arrived.

Even though I have not yet purchased anything from Herb and Paula, I rate them a perfect 10. They have answered numerous E-Mails promptly and politely, even when I was asking about items they did not carry or that they had previously sold to someone else. One time Herb called me at his expense and spent 15 minutes on the phone with me, even though it was obvious I wasn't going to buy anything at the time. I will most certainly buy everything I need from them in the future, even if the price is a bit higher (and they are *not* always the most expensive, especially on less common Tele Vue items).

I would have rated this facility a 9.5 if available, just so Herb wouldn't think there's no room for improvement.
In all seriousness, there's a good reason Anacortes Telescope is as highly rated as indicated by this survey. These folks are top of the line discussing astronomy/equipment issues (probably every bit as well versed in wild bird matters also, I was shopping for a refractor and didn't ask). Exceptionally nice folks, the Owner's in the store so to speak, very knowledgeable, helpful, and will find an answer to any question you may have. This is one business that understands the value of doing commerce via email and they have enough savvy to recognize you can be located anywhere and be competitive if you take time to respond to inquiries. I have emailed many businesses that don't answer promptly, or fail to answer at all.
Expedient service, good prices and what they tell you for a time frame will happen. I was astounded by their Takahashi refractor stock.

If you visit the shop in Anacortes, do yourself a favor and don't ask if they have any Astro-Physics instruments around; you may just end up going home with one.

This place really impresses me since I`ve ordered from them many times and have had nothing but positive experiences with them. Most of the following reflects my experiences. They treat people like good friends. They`re very polite, courteous, etc. They`re also quite knowledgeable, full of helpful tips, and happy to answer any questions. They seem to be most concerned about the customer making the right purchase even if it means buying nothing from them. If one has questions, they can e-mail them or call and ask. Either way, one gets replies as prompt as possible. And, as pointed out above, customers can order things at their web site in case the place is closed or if they would just rather do it that way. Their prices were the lowest of all the places that averaged a rating of 8 or higher on this web site at the time of my 1st purchase from them. They also offer online tracking of an order and often times e-mail customers to inform them of the progress of the shipment. Of course, they`ll also gladly give customers the tracking number or numbers so customers can track their own orders if they wish. The shipments also arrive on about the day they say it will. They also offer a very wide variety of quality merchandise from mostly all the best brand names and they`ve always had what I was looking for in stock at the time of ordering. But then, most who`ve bought from this place already know most of this. That`s why I`ll most certainly continue to buy from them and also why they`re piling up all those perfect 10`s. They`re about to earn another one. They deserve it.

The service was very good. Prices are in the lower level.
They shipped on time.
But UPS used 11 days to get the stuff to my home in Norway
(most delay in Norway).
I will fully recommend this shop.

Herb is very prompt in responding to e-mails. You feel as though you really matter with him (unlike some other vendors I won't mention). His phone order folks are very knowledgeable and courteous and purchases are shipped in an expeditious and very professional manner. I think the guy's really got his act together and have always been a pleasure to deal with. You slugs out there (and you know who you are) really need to take a lesson from the Yorks on how to deal with customers. I'll give 'em a 10.

I attempted to buy a used 12" Meade LX200 telescope from this company and the person I corresponded with was rude and would not work toward a common settlement even tough I felt as though I had made a pretty good offer.

Herb, Paula, Ray & company are the most knowledgeable, reliable, honorable, polite, patient and fair people in the Astronomy business. It also is a great bonus that they happen to sell the highest quality equipment at the best prices around. They make every effort to ensure that what you get is what you want (and need). I can still Herb saying..."Well I'd love to sell you the 6" Tak, it's a great scope, but with its mount it not very light, and I thought you wanted portable."

More importantly, after the sale Anacortes Telescope remains committed to the customer's satisfaction. Herb has even, without expecting anything in return, helped me sell one of my telescopes. ***By the way, the previous three-point review was from an individual attempting to purchase my LX200 12"; I saw the e-mail correspondence that Herb had with this gentleman. Herb was always polite and helpful, and in my opinion, exhibited the patience of Job in fielding his questions (on my behalf). I am astounded by the gentleman's response; suffice to say I was not willing to sell my $5,500 rig for $3,500 dollars. ***

In summary, I have purchased three telescopes, one spotting scope, eight eyepieces, a Daystar solar filter and numerous accessories from Anacortes Telescope. I have always been treated fairly by these polite and knowledgeable people. I look forward to dealing with them again.

Excellent prices and good service over the phone. However, item ordered online turned out to be out-of-stock, which it took over 24 hours to notify me of, and I waited indefinitely for a week before finally cancelling the order. I rate service and price a 9, management 5, average overall rating = 7.
