Service was excellent, DElievery as expected. THey give you the UPS number so you can wathc your package make teh trip across the US and anticipate its delivery. Thye are also neat people in person and guess what? I actually saw them using a telescope, That's right people who actaully enjoy the hobby. Most of the really good companies on this list all have owners or workers who are dedicated to the hobby. The York's are no exception. They ahe the best quality products avaialble at competitive prices.

Price on the 12mm Nagler 4 was lower than most.

Have purchased twice from Anacortes and would again. Paula was very nice and answered questions readily even when I was "just looking". Both orders were shipped quickly and I was pleased with the service and the prices.

I received an unsolicited e-mail from the owner who was trolling internet newsgroups for potential sales. I had mentioned a certain telescope in one of my postings. The owner said they had the telescope in stock and that he could take my order and ship immediately. When I asked, via e-mail, for more specifics I found that he was trying to substitute a different telescope for the hard-to-find model I wanted. When I asked if they had the specific telescope I got a curt and rude response, as if I had wasted his time! Troll!

Each time I call to order something or ask a question any one of the staff is more than helpful and accomodating. IMO Herb and Paula are doing things that signal to me they will be here a long time. I called once about back ordered pieces and explained I needed them for a trip and they made sure I had them.
As far as prices, ATWB is very competitive and when I need advice I would rather pay more than guess about bad equipment choices.

I just wanted to say that the folks at Anacortes, Herb, Paula, Ray, and Jim are some of the most caring people that I have ever had the privelege of dealing with. Email responses....are so quick, I almost think that I'm on the phone with them! So far, I've only purchased a few items from them including a Tak 4mm HI ortho, but everything went "buttery" smooth. I would not hesitate in ordering from them again; I thoroughly loved the experiences. My "real" rating would be a +10.

Of all the companies I have ever dealt with, ATWB is the only one that answers emails as promptly as Herb and Paula! Service is top shelf and, in most cases, I find the prices to be lower than most of the competition's. These guys love astronomy and it shows in the way they run their business.
I have now ordered from them at least 4 or 5 times and will continue to buy all future astro-purchases from them.

It's very clear that Herb and Paula York are able to back up their claim to differentiate Anacortes Telescope by the quality of their customer service. Having started with a small purchase over two years ago I have trusted every major astronomy purchase to them since and I have never been let down. The whole team at Anacortes are passionate about astronomy, knowledgeable about the products they sell and always go out of their way to answer my questions.

Quite frankly dealing with Anacortes is one of the best retail experiences I've had buying anything!

I ordered a secondary mirror from them. They had to order it from meade. When it came in, they were in the middle of a move and lost the mirror. They reordered. I finally got it a month after I ordered it, when it had been promised delivered in 5-10 days. The worst thing about it was that I was he one who made all the phone calls. I did not recieve even an e-mail tellingme that they had lost it. When I finally found out, they had already misplaced it for a week. The only break I got on it was that they didn't charge me the $2.50 for shipping. I was very disapointed.
I have been to their store. Staff was not all tht helpful, and they were a little condecending. I only ordered the mirror from them because they were local, and I didn't want to wait a month for the mirror to come in. I am taking my business elsewhere now.

Over the past six months I've placed many orders with ATWB. Some large, some small. Every single order has worked out well in the end. However, the true measure of a mail order company is not how they handle the transactions that go well, but how they handle the inevitable transactions that run into problems. So far, I've had two such problem transactions with ATWB. To my relief, both were handled very well by the ATWB staff. So they've certainly passed the acid test. In fact, ATWB has done so well for me that I now always visit the ATWB web site first before I even think of looking elsewhere.

I purchased a C102HD from Anacortes Telescope and recieved it 2 days later. Granted they are 70 miles north of where I live but still I thought that speedy service. I also got a good price on it at $399. Good job!
