Celestron Axiom 19mm, 1.25 inch
I just wanted to rate this eyepiece. I consider it a 9 - 10.

I compared the Celestron Axiom 19mm against the Televue 19mm Panoptic in a fast Newt. For Performance Its very hard too say which is better, so hard I will not say. Price well the Axiom wins hand down. I am glad I brought the 19mm Axiom instead of the Panpotic bascially the same performace in very way at $200 (Australian) dollars less

I too have compared the Celestron Axiom to the 19mm Televue Panoptic and was amazed at how well this eyepiece (Axiom) compared to the Televue. The eyerelief on the Axiom is shorter no doubt...but if you do not need to wear eyeglasses I cannot see why you would need to spend $100.00 more for the Panoptic.

Great EP! Love the quality and amount of glass! Very well made. Views are excellent and sharp to the edge. I was at first concerned about the small eye relief that I have seen commented on several bulletin boards.....this is absolutely no problem to me as one who does not wear glasses.

This is my first wide field eyepiece and it totally spoiled me. Its actual f.o.v is somewhere between my 25mm & 32mm Plossls, with larger, brighter images. I use it with my 8" f/6 dob & 4" f/9 refractor, and do notice some coma @ the edge of field in my dob. For this reason I rate this EP a 9.

Nice eyepiece. There is some coma near the edge. This isn't normally a problem, except when I do something like put Jupiter or Saturn just outside the FOV so that I can look for their dimmer moons. It's still a keeper though.

I'm adding an addendum to my rating just above. I use the eyepiece primarily on an f/10 Celestron C8. Also, I've notice that that the filter threads just barely accept my filters. Only about one thread screws onto the eyepiece, but it does screw on. I don't have this problem with my other eyepieces, mostly Televues, so I suspect the Axiom eyepiece is the source of the problem. Still rate it a 9.

I have had my 19mm Axiom for about 5 months and like what I've seen so far. it gives a wide field of view on my f/10 system. The star fields stand out very well against a dark background sky. No noticeable coma correction. This eyepiece joins my Ultima 30mm in my never sell collection. I wish Celestron would have sold one in the 12-14mm range.

response to prior post: the 19mm comes as either 2" or 1.25"...
Another good eyepiece from Celestron. Sharp to about 90% of the field in my 8" f/6. But like the 15mm and the 23mm Axioms, they don't fit the Celestron Ultima 2X barlow? They barley fit the TV barlows, definite back pressure when inserting into the barlow....

Considering that it costs $129 at Adorama, there really is no way to go wrong with this eyepiece. False color and streaked stars are non-existent in the entire field of my f/13.8 ETX90. However, coma and false color are apparent in the outer 1/5 of the FOV with my f/5 reflector. Of course, this is much due to the telescope. My best Plossels are slightly better corrected, but considering the Axiom's expansive FOV, it still has a significantly larger usable field.

I decided to compare the Celestron Axiom 19mm against the Televue 19mm Panoptic, and the Celestron Ultima 18mm, and found there really was not that much to compare. They were all excellent eyepieces. I used a C8 on M104 and the surrounding star field to give me a good objective comparison. Stars were pinpoint, and I had no problem bringing them into focus. The edge correction was very good in all three with perhaps the Ultima 18mm having a flatter field, but it was quite evident that the Axiom 19mm and the Panoptic 19mm had the advertised 68 and 70 degree apparent fields. Eye relief was very good with no black out. I felt the contrast in all three were very good to excellent. Perhaps the Televue 19mm Panoptic might have just the slightest edge over the other two, but you really had to compare them critcally to see any difference at all. I could plainly see the bulge in the Sombrero Galaxy and with averted vision I could see the dust lane running horizontally through it in all three eyepieces. However, to pick up the subleties in the galaxy I would definitely have to compare the eyepieces in an actual dark site and not my backyard. I also plan to test them in a fast dob. If I would rank them in order I would have to give the slightest edge to the Panoptic 19mm. Cost: $260.00. The Celestron Axiom 19mm is almost a tie with the former which makes it second I guess. Cost: $139.00! The only reason the Ultima 18mm gets the third slot is that its field is slightly smaller. Cost: Around $80.00. Any of these eyepieces should satisfy the discriminating viewer unless you are looking for the vaunted 82 - 84 degree apparent field, but you have to pay a high price for it. Once again I have to congratulate Celestron for putting out the Axiom eyepieces. I think the Axiom 19mm is a best buy. Recommended.

Best eypiece I own. Excellent price for us on a budget.Same image field of view area, as meade 26mm super plossl 4000 but larger and more crisp images.They both view about 42 min of a degree in the scope I own.

Celestron Axiom 19mm, 1.25 inch
I have bought two of them for my BW-Optics binoviewer. I am very impressed about the performance. Using my 8"f/6 with the 1.3x relay lens (Siebert-optics) and these 19 mm Axioms I can capture the entire moon with enough black around it - very very nice views! Combined with my 2.5x corrector lens I reach 160x. Although I have some other pairs of EPs (25 mm and 10 mm Plossl , 15 mm Kellner) I exclusively use my 19 mm Axiom for binoviewing because there are no blackout problems, a nice 70° AFOV and perfect centering of the optics (some other EPs are obviously not perfectly centered).
Highly recommended EPs!

Excelent eyepiece.
No difference in comparison with a Panoptic and you get a wider field (70º+) for almost half of the price.
No astigmatism or false color in my SCT f/10 telescope.
Highly recommended.
