This outfit shipped me a repacked Meade 8" LX200 SCT. I paid for a new scope as a gift for my wife and was disappointed. The owner claimed the scope had not been repacked, told me I would have to pay for return shipping, cursed at me during our conversation, and hung up on me. They also never sent me the accessory pkg that contained controller, diagonal. EP, etc. I called Meade to advise them of the poor dealer they had representing their company, and they advised me that my scope was, indeed, a repack and offered to ship me a new one, all shipping costs covered! Needless to say, I am a fan of Meade, and will never, ever deal with astroptx.com again.

Freddie is sort of rude and abrupt, in my opinion. Items are wholesale used and unreliable. The stuff at this place is left over from old inventory, in my opinion. However, the prices and delivery are superb. The salesman is not so easy to deal with, but the customer always makes the decision to buy. You can always think about buying anything from them and place an order at another time.

I have been doing business with one company or another for over 40 years and Wholesale Optics is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. Fred is rude, curde, and just an asswhole. I have never before been cussed out just for asking a question about a product I was trying to buy. I think this company should be forced out of business, and Fred should be in Jail.

I called Astroptx, got exactly the information I needed and a great price on my purchase of a Meade LX200. I was treated very nicely on the phone and was NEVER pressured into making any decisions. They were patient when I was unsure of what I wanted and helped me through the process bye thoroughly explaining things. I was told I'd have the scope within 4 days of purchase and I received it EXACTLY 4 days later. I have done more business with them since, and all I can report is GOOD NEWS!! and GREAT PRICES!!!

How come you don't have MINUS rating option on the Astroptyx page? I wish I had known about this page before I called them.
Ordered two eyepieces, never saw them. Called back several times, was told everything from, "they're on the way", to "we have no record of your order" to "we shipped them yesterday". Never showed, although he certainly charged my card. The last time I called and demanded that he give me the shipping number or refund my money, he said "I ain't got time for f***ing with these chickens**t orders, don't waste my time, screw you and your GD little $65".
Called the CC company and contested the charge. He told the VISA he shipped the order, but when asked to produce the paperwork, he couldn't and started cursing at them. They promptly credited my account, (and the rep even told me the story of the call as it was so unusual). All I can say is you'd be better off buying your stuff out of a van behind a warehouse. At least most con men are polite. This guy should be in Hell, not jail.

This guy is should be in jail for hurting and ripping off amatuer astronomers. From what I have seen once he gets your money you are no longer of any interest to him. Stay clear of this guy the horror stories are all true.

I came to this site looking for info on another company that I plan to deal with and happened across the comments on Astropx. I was stunned. Iv've dealt with Fred Pauli on the phone twice in the last 18 months, both times he helped me considerably. Of course each time I had first indicated I'm here to buy. Fred was helpful to me , not rude. He is a bit coarse. The products he gave me info on were great suggestions and I,m happy with my purchases. I'll buy here again. You can't beat the prices. I HAVE DEALT SEVERAL TIMES WITH ASTROPTX. IN FACT ONE OCCASION I EVEN WENT TO
THE SHOWROOM. MY BIT OF ADVICE - KNOW EXACTLY THE ITEM YOU ARE LOOKING TO PURCHASE AND WHAT IS INCLUDED AS PART OF THE COMPLETE PACKAGE. ONE TIME THEY
TRIED TO CHARGE ME EXTRA FOR PARTS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO COME STANDARD WITH A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT I HAD PURCHASED . I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED I RETURNED THE ITEM
TO THEM , AND THEY DID ISSUE ME A PROMPT REFUND.
I HAVE SEEN THEM SELLING AT ASTRONOMY VENUES FROM TIME
TO TIME BUT I WALK RIGHT PAST THEIR TABLE - I KNOW BETTER.

I'd like to say some nice things about Astroptx, but I'm afraid everyone will think i'm the owner trying to bump up his batting average here! You'll need to take my word, I'm just an amateur to this hobby. I came across the Astroptx website by accident a few months ago when I was just getting into learning about all the different types of telescopes and equipment. At the time, I had a second-hand 4½" reflector but no accesories. What caught my eye, naturally, was the low prices. After doing more research and getting a pretty good idea as to what EP's I wanted, I gave them a call to place an order. My impression was that the guy seemed to be running a one-man-show, and was extremely busy. However, he answered all my questions and he took my order politely. Not over-politely, but politely. The items arrived at my doorstep the next day, brand new, in perfect condition. Since then, I have done business with them almost exclusively, and have never been "talked down to" or treated rudely. In fact, there have been occasions where he recommended a less expensive alternative to what I wanted because the cheaper item was better suited for my telescope.

Scrolling down this list of reviews, the horror stories far outweigh the pleasant ones. There is no excuse for bad service. Maybe I've been lucky and caught him on his good days, I don't know. I've never purchased anything major from him, just eyepieces and small accessories. Everything has always arrived no later than next-day. Contrary t most of the reviews, I can't help but give a "10" ranking. But, I will be very VERY careful in the future.

Prices seemed very good (Meade LX200 8") and delivery time was reasonable (1 1/2 weeks). I also received some good advice (f10 v. f6.3). My only problem was dealing with the owner (over the phone). Quite patronizing and did not seem inclined to really spend much time with me.

I have only made two purchases from AstroPTX. With the first he advised me appropriately on 6 and 10mm Vixen eyepieces. I changed my mind twice on these and he was very understanding and dealt with me in a polite manner: reshipping them when I changed my order a second time after sending them back to him. He strikes me as a very busy man, so I can understand if he has no time for chit chat. Maybe the complaints are legitimate, but this is my experience with the company, and I can only respond to them. You can not beat the prices.

I dropped it 1 point because of the long distance bill i got in the mail. other than that, my eyepieces came tightly wrapped, and very quick. The guy on the phone kept calling me buddy. Southern talk i guess. Very nice. My first choice when i need to buy something. The prices are great!!
