I ordered a CG-9 1/4 from Astronomics. They said it would be 5 days to deliever, but it took 3.5 weeks. I couldn't get any one to call me back including the guy that sold me the scope! When it did arrive, several pieces (counter weights, weight bar) were missing. After examining the scope, I noticed a 1/4" scratch on the primary mirror. I called them back and they told me I would have to call celestron myself. When I asked if they would intercede on my behalf, she told me they only sold them and did not do that kind of service. I immediatly asked for a RMA number and asked for a credit on my card. It took another 2 weeks of me calling them to find out they had credited my card. I will never deal with them again. The best price doesn't mean much if you get these kind of hassles to go along with it.

As the most indecisive customer they may have ever had, I was continuously surprised by their patience. Solid advice, the lowest prices on the web, and competent, knowledgeable salespeople. (Especially Mike.)

Most of the staff is friendly. Inquiries answered via mail/e-mail are very slow, if at all. Shipping costs are outragious. Sometimes long hold on phone. Prices are standard. Extensive product list. Some highbred add-ons unavailable.
Pretty much run of the mill service after sale.

I bought a Celesctron G5 scope. It was the cheapest I could find anywhere with the accessories that came with it. It came in the mail in 5 days as they said it would. When I assemblied and took it out for the first time the tripod mount that the EQ sits on had a crack it made the scope totally useless. I called astronomics and they said they couldn't help me in terms of fixing the tripod but they called Celestron for me and Celestron called and took care of the problem in three days.

I have had nothing but good experience with Astronomics. I've not only gotten good products and good advice, but have been referred to other dealers/vendors when the Astronomics folk thought I could be better served.

They know their stuff. When looking at a Tak-102, they told me to buy a mount they did not sell because it was better and cheaper. That is what I like, honesty!

Order arrived ahead of estimate, and this during Christmas rush! Price on item was more than reasonable and sales person was knowledgable, courtious and patient. I could not have asked for better.

Wanted to charge me the Meade advertised cost of shipping for the Meade 7" Mak OTA plus add their own shipping on top of that. Their stated reason was the Meade shipping cost was to get it to them, not to the end user. I found that very odd since no other dealer I received quotes from came up with that story. They got a bit nasty with me when I called them on it. The dealer I enventually bought from charged me only the actual shipping cost from them to me (and sold me the OTA at a lower price). I'm sure Astronomics is a helpful dealer but I'll take my business elsewhere... there are lots of helpful dealers out there.

i checked shipping costs ahead of time on ups.com and astronomics actually charged me less the than ups stated charges from OK to my house.

i ordered a meade 10inch eq and a load of occulars, filters, and a magellan I
system. Meade screwed up my address on the scope but my ups driver saved the day. everything arrived in perfect shape and the service was very friendly and
they actually saved my a few hundred dollars.

however...they could not get it through their heads to ship the occulars, filters, and magellan ahead of meade's ship date for the scope. i instructed
them to get the in-stock stuff to my house so i could use it on my c-8...oh well, i suppose they dont know how to override their computer software.

delivery...7 but exactly on time as predicted
prices ...9 outstanding

After three years, and a great deal of money :), I have never had anything but flawless and friendly service from Astronomics. The prices have, many times, been lower than any dealer i've contacted. They usually ship the same day you order, and UPS has faithfully gotten the package to me within 2-3 days.

The salespeople were very courteous and helpful. Two orders made so far with the same great service both times. Before I received one item, I decided that I really wanted a different product, so I called them, somewhat apprehensive about what to expect, but they were great. The item was returned and my new choice was shipped right out. On each occasions the items were shipped the next morning, and they correctly predicted the exact day of arrival. This is how a mail-order should operate, I'm giving them a 10.

I was having trouble getting Meade to sell me an older controller and dec motor for my LX-100. Astronomics bent over backward to try to solve the problem, but alas, they could not change pig-headed Meade's mind. They were very helpful even though they didn't make a sale.

Later, I bought a G-3 from them, and I was very satisfied with the product. It arrived within 5 days (the promised time) and the price was cheaper than anywhere else.

After looking at their website for a pair of binoculars, I discussed with one of their salespeople what exactly I was looking for and she then confirmed that the binoculars I was ordering were the ones pictured on their webpage and that they met my description, given that I was ordering, as explained, for a young nephew, size was important. The actual pair sent was not the ones in the picture and were much larger than I had described. When I sent them back, they refused to credit me the $20.00 shipping costs to ship them to me, despite the fact that I had purchased over $2,500 worth of equipment from them previously. I even tried to work out a deal for them to sell me a star atlas at cost (about $30.00), but to no avail. The guys at Focus, Pocono, Anacortes and Company 7 are much easier and nicer to deal with, and they have benefitted financially from my aperture fever.

I have ordered from them several times in the last year. Their prices are great when they make a "buy out" on discontinued equipment and thei advice is usually good. But on two out of three orders I received damaged items. To their credit they did take care of the problems. I have encountered several rude sales people who act like if your looking for a good price you are cheating them! Hey Astronomics, thats why I am mail ordering! The guy that should complain is the local shop that showed me the scope before I ordered it from you! They have a saleslady that is very helpful and will match prices if at all possible. Try to deal with her if you can.

Excellent service, friendly, helpful. I bought a US made high end refractor that arrived out of collimation. They exchanged for another high end foreign made refractor without a problem. I wouldn't hesitate to buy all my astronomy equipment from them.
