New Instructions from Meade. Adjust set screw and take telescope and hit on head. Then tamper with the plastic wheely thing and hit on head. Lastly, tighten rattling thing on wobbly thing...take telescope and hit head. You should now see plenty of stars. Thanks for your money. Please come again!

I AGREE WITH MOST STATEMENTS IN THIS REVIEW,TO ONE DEGREE OR ANOTHER
1. IT,S A GOOD STARTING SCOPE
2.WITH A MOTOR DRIVE (ANY) THERE ARE GOING TO BE SMALL PROMBLEMS.
3.NO ONE SAID ANY THING ABOUT THIS,YOU SHOULD INVEST IN SOME(PLOSSL
EYEPIECES,(MEADE SERIS 3000 OR 4000,THEY COST MORE BUT IMPROVE YOUR
VIEW.
4.REMEMBER ITS NOT A 2000.00 DOLLAR SCOPE
5.i OWN ONE ,FOR THE PRICE i'AM PLEASED.

I am glad that I was able to return this scope, and get a full refund. The whole thing is just cheaply made. Trying to get a good focus on saturn, or jupiter with this thing with a high power is downright impossible. The thing shakes so bad that I give it a 10 in the aggravation factor. At first I thought that maybe the rings were loose so I tightened them some more only to watch the plastic ring give as I did. Such a shame that companies continue to make these useless scopes. The sad part about it is that new people to the hobby, buy these things and end up finally dropping out of the hobby, due to fustration and let downs.

I have NO problems with this scope in fact it is sharp enough to see the rings of Saturn with 24mm eyepiece.

For the price, it is a good telescope for beginners. The optics are quite good. The drawbacks are the eyepieces ( the 25mm is a modified Kellner type, which is OK, but the 9mm is a Huygenian, which is quite useless). The mount is shaky and ustable, which is its biggest drawback. I got this scope as a Christmas gift, and I've seen it for as low as $150. Investing in a better mount will greatly improve performance (maybe another $100 to $200).

I have owned this scope for over two years now. The optics itself are not that bad when considering the price. When I first got this scope it came with the .965 eyepieces, so I called meade and they sent me an adapter for free. So I upgrade to 1 1/4" eyepieces and buy two meade 4000 plossles and the views are much better. The mount is very shaky and unstable , but what do you expect for 250 - 300 dollars. Overall the scope is not bad for a beginner scope. If I have known then what I know now. I would have spent and additonal 1 - 2 Hundred dollars more and bought a 6" or 8" newtonian on an eq mount.

Happy Viewing
