Vixen Lanthanum Superwide 8mm
I have tested the LVW 8mm with a FS60C, a vixen 80ED and a mewlon 210. I had put it in front of a clave 8mm. The wide angle vixen is as sharp, as contrasty, as bright. The field is absolutely flat. The color correction is better than in the clave. If you know a better wield field 8mm eyepiece... you'd better buy it.

Vixen Lanthanum Superwide 8mm
Absolutely astounding! In my 8" f/6 dob consistently crisp, contrasty views of Jupiter and Saturn. The moon is tack sharp to the edge. I truly appreciate the added field of view. Because my dob has no tracking capabilities, I like to place the object at the extreme edge and follow it across the field of view. With this eyepiece, my moving picture is a pleasure. Well worth the price of admission.

Excellent eyepiece, and a very usefull focal length for both my 8" f/6 and my 80mm f/6. I borrowed an 8mm Radian for direct comparison and was unable to detect any diffrence in sharpness or contrast. I did not like the clickstop adjustable eyecup arrangement on the Radian, and prefered the slightly larger FOV afforded by the heavier and more solidly built 8mm LVSW. Either of these fine eyepieces is a real winner!

Overall, a super eyepiece! On axis resolution, brightness, and contrast is excellent. I can make out 7 bands on Jupiter on my 7" F/10 Mak. Very comfortable eye relief and large FOV. Stars are pin-points to the edge and with very flat field (very little distortion). There is some slight lateral colour seen on the moon's limb off axis (lost one point here). This is one big and heavy EP so it may cause balancing problems.

Just recieved this eyepiece in the mail on Wednesday, then, of course, it clouded up at 20:00 local. Finally got it out on Fri. June 2. This is an exceptional eyepiece. I first turned it to Polaris to see it's faint companion. It showed no problem. Nice and bright. Then it was on to Izar in Bootes. I was able to split that cleanly. Normally I need my 13mm Teluvue Plossl and 2x barlow in my 4" f/10 refractor to split that (about 150x). Also went on to the "Double Double" in Lyra, again no problem resolving that. It was especially nice in this ocular thanks to the wide F.O.V. and nice eye relief. All stars are bright and clear right to the edges. But the thing that suprised me most was M13. It was spectacular! I thought I would lose resolution and contrast because of the fairly high power (125x) but that was not the case. I could not believe the amount of stars which resolved to nice pinpoints against the black background. So because of this view I went on to M92 and M5. They to, did not dissapoint. I finally ended the trial run on M57, It was also wonderfully bright against a nice black starfield. All this was done in fairly good skies (6/10) from my suburban back yard.
The only real gripe about this eyepiece is the weight. It is quite hefty and requires a slight weight adjustment on the scope but that is to be expected from any of the new Wide-Angles.
