Vixen Lanthanum Superwide 22mm
This is my first wide view EP. I must say that the view was breathtaking when I compared it to what my Plossls put out. Even without eyeglasses, it is comfortable. The size and appearance immediately shows high quality. I could actually see most if not all of M31 with my Nexstar5 for the first time. The draw back is the price, being only a few bucks short of Televue Radians, it will face tough competition, for those who are picky about brands. Now I'm hooked and looking forward to a 13mm wide EP.

I have tested the LVW 17mm with a FS60C, a vixen 80ED and a mewlon 210. The use of this eyepiece is so pleasant with the vixen 80ED. You can see a little field curvature in the Mewlon 210 with this eyepiece. I think it's more the cassegrain design than the eyepiece design. In the 80ED the field cuvature is close to be absent.

After a few nights out with this eyepeice I can only endorse the previous positive comments. Views of M31 through a C8 seem very contrasty. Rather than go down the Televue route, I'm now seriously considering the 17mm superwide to complete my wide-field selection. In Europe these eyepieces represent good value.

Excellent eyepiece at a reasonable price considering the opposition. I compared this side by side with a Panoptic 22mm but preferred the LVW despite its lower price. Eye relief was more comfortable, the image was just as bright and contrasty but pin cushion distortion was much more evident in the Panoptic, especially during daytime use. I do like the Panoptic line as well and still have the 19mm, but the LVW just had the upper hand in the 22mm size IMO so this was the keeper.
Tested in Celestron C9.25 and a Zeiss Telementor which gives a lovely 1.7° view with this eyepiece. Recommended.

Vixen Lanthanum Superwide 22mm
My second most used eyepiece behind the 13mm LVSW. Giving a true FOV almost equal to 32mm Plossl with a much darker background and more magnification and contrast. Perfectly frames large open starfields and nebulae. In my 8" f/6 or my 80mm f/6 this is the eyepiece I reach for to starhopp or find an object. I've directly compared it to a 22mm Panoptic, and been unable to tell the diffrence. At a significantly lower price this eyepiece is easilly the equal of the panoptic in performance.

Very, Very nice eyepiece for the money. Works extremely well in my 8", f6 newt. The FOV is great with little or no degradation at the edge. Great contrast and very good eye relief. All others in my collection are now taking a back seat to the Vixen superwide. A bit on the heavy side but the sharp image and wide FOV is worth it! I can't imagine needing more than the full 65 degree FOV offered by this eyepiece, it's almost an eye-strain to view it all at the same time without moving your eye around.

No statement, only one question:
Who needs already a Panoptik??

VLSW 22 is a great eyepiece for that initial look at the sky after pointing the telescope with your telerad. Often this is all I want or need; but, then to pop in the VLSW 8mm is really neat for the close up look.

Great eyepiece period.
I use it more than any other eyepiece.
Works perfect for my 102mm apo and 8" f4 reflector.

I LOVE this eyepiece! It is sharp right out to the edge in my f/4.5 dob, and I noticed no pincusion at all, until I really scrutinized and looked for it. It is probably my most used eyepiece, providing around 75x in the dob.
The only reason i can't give it a 10 is because it does display some off axis color on the Moon and Mars (haven't had a chance to try Jupiter yet).
98% of the 22mm Panoptic's performance at 70% of the price.
