Vista V812GP
This is an exceptional value - I own 3 other scopes, a 4" and an 8" B&L SCT, as well as a Vista 508 (Same as the Orion Short-Tube 80). Star images are almost perfect on each side of focus, at powers between 160x & 320x. Bright stars such as Vega show very little color at focus, and the Double-double - you could drive a truck between each star! Star clusters such as M13 and M92 are simply stunning, and the Coathanger cluster fits completely within the filed of view with a 52mm eyepiece. The mount is very sturdy-provided you get rid of the aluminium tripod legs. I mounted mine to a pier which is bolted to a 2-ton cement footing. I will also upgrade the finder - it's stopped-down and very dim. The only other thing that went out the door was the original mirror diagonal, which created some astigmatism, It was replaced with a good quality 2" mirror diagonal, with a 52mm Erfle eyepiece for stunning low-power views.
