I was hoping for something as good as the 40mm MK-70 but with a bit more magnification. But at F5 they are not in the same league, the Mk-70 is just much better. With an F7 scope the image was somewhat improved but still not up to the standards of the 40mm.
I had problems focusing the middle and edges simultaneously, an issue that I didn't have with the 40mm. (My eyes no longer do much in the way of accomadating, this doesn't usually become an issue until one is in their mid-40's.)

This is an eyepiece with great multicoatings compared to others in this class and while slightly better corrected than the 1RPD, still lacks enough correction for a fast scope. In my f/4.5, the outer third+ of the field was fairly mushy. A paracorr helped out a bit but still did not do enough in my opinion.

It's a very well built product. Contrast was also slightly better compared to the 1RPD, but I don't believe these small differences can truly command the higher price tag. A slower scope (f/6, f/7 or slower) may benefit a lot more from this eyepiece.

Large eyepiece with a lot of glass. Beautifull 80 degree field but in my f/6 newtonian there is image distortion in the last 20% or so of the field. Even on an f/8 scope the distortion is still there so I suspect it is not as focal ratio dependant as it is made out to be. Wheather or not this is an issue with you depends on personal taste. It really doesn't bother me much but a friend of mine doesn't like it at all. Another issue is the fact that the eyelens is surrounded with a plastic rim that is un removable (un like the 40 mm mk-70) This tends to keep me from getting my eye as close to the lense as I would like. It is a slight problem for me because I wear glasses but if you don't then no problem. Overall this eyepiece is a keeper. I enjoy it more than the mk-70 40mm and the 32mm konig II. If you have a large scope and want to hunt for faint fuzzies just pop it in and go.
