University Optics Konig II 12mm
I just purchsed this and the 24 mm Koning from UO a few weeks back, both ep's are very good, didn't see any black spec paint inside like the one reviewer stated. ER is about the same as the 9mm UO ortho and the views are as sharp but the contrast is just a tad better in the Ortho 9mm. I really like the FOV and once I compared it to my 12mm TV radian it was the same, the only area the TV was better was ER but I ended up selling the Radian and keeping the Koning. Once you get the feel of the ER and used to it cause I also have the 16mm as well, both are excellent on deep skt as well as the planets, a big jump above plossl's and sharper than other SWA ep's with better light output.. I have checked out the FOV for curvature on the planets and have found none using a F12 MCT and only on the 16mm there is maybe the last 5% which is no big deal. Its 90% of a radian at 1/3 the price and its light so no dob dipping done with this ep, recomended

I have found it very good on a 6" Dob. Some distortion at edges but good field of view, ideal for scanning Milky Way. Eye relief is a bit annoying and an add-on rubber eyecup is a must.

Has the excellent sharpness and contrast of an orthoscopic, the tight eye relief of a Kellner, and the wide field and fair edge corrections of an Erfle. This goes for the entire range of Konigs in 24, 16, 12, 8, and 6.5mm. The Konig gives Planetary performance like an Orthoscopic, but compromises eye relief to gain an extra 15 degrees of field. In other words you can't have everything in one eyepiece design, but the konig does a pretty good job.

Not much eye relief, pretty good view to the edge, and you have to remember to give it a clean after every two or three uses. It is easier to use if one adds a butterfly eye shade, like those sold by Orion. I used it mainly on my 14.5" dob before I got a 9mm Nagler. It's still handy for when I want to find a planetary nebula, and bump up the power. I always lose the position when I take out a Nagler or Meade Ultrawide eyepiece, and the dob tips up. This never happens with the Konig. However, I've never found much use for this eyepiece in my C8 or 80mm refractor.
